Great food. Reasonable orices
Thanks to Nancy today for helping to make our first trip to Mel's a good one. Warm welcome and fast, great service. I had the corn beef hash and the Mrs had the Pecan pancakes - both delicious;- big portions, with a fresh Florida orange juice, toast and coffee, all for $30 - recommended!

We went to Mel’s for dinner, but it seemed like a place better for breakfast or lunch. We arrived at Mel’s at 5:30 pm on Friday evening and we were given a number and told the wait was 25 minutes and we were seated about 30 minutes later. People are willing to wait at Mel’s, so I thought maybe there is something to good food at bargain prices. I ordered the grouper with key lime sauce with half a crab cake. I came with steamed vegetables and rice for $19. That seemed like a great price. The fish was incredibly thin and didn’t have much taste. The 1/2 crab cake was 1/5 of a normal size crab cake and the meal was bland. My wife had a turkey dinner. We both had malts, which were pretty good. The price of dinner with tax was $60, even with 20% tip and tax. Well, you get what you pay for. I suppose the breakfast menu looked good and they have the typical patty melts and club sandwiches, which are great for lunch. If we go back to Mel’s, it won’t be for dinner. I suppose if I really wanted grouper, I would have been much better off at Pinschers across the street. If you don’t want to cook and are okay with a cheap dinner out, Mel’s is for you, but the typical New Jersey diner blows places like Mel’s away.
As I am writing this, we’re here now awaiting our food. We try to come at least twice a month because we live nearby. Most of the staff has been here a long time and are EXCELLENT. The menu is extensive and the food is great. Prices haven’t changed much and are very reasonable. The few people I’ve read that have rated it terrible or poor? Crazy. My wife and I are both food critics and would never frequent a place unless it was great. Mel’s Diner in Bonita Springs ROCKS!
This is a 50s themed diner , the food was good the menu had healthy options I got a Ceasar chicken wrap on a sundried tomato tortilla it had seafood options the standard diner foods we had a great lunch there with exception to our server who forgot my drink till after the food came out forgot another person's drink in my party , I also ordered their fresh made daily Key lime pie which is kinda a big deal here in South Florida , which he never rung up to be honest we got either a new server or forgetful or having an off day but every other table seemed like they got everything all in all minus the stuff we never got that was ordered it was a great place to check out
I was pleasantly surprised when visiting this restaurant. I had visited a few years prior and was not impressed with the food or decor. It seems that they've done some remodeling and have upped their food game. We came here for breakfast and it is now our favorite breakfast spot. I ordered the french toast and it was delicious. My oldest daughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and really enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend that everyone try the sausage, it looked more like ground beef but has a good flavor. I'd also like to add that our waitress, Stacy, was really attentive and pleasant. She communicated clearly and checked in with us to refill our drinks several times. I can't wait until we return to try more meals.
Mel's Diner is a perfect spot to grab breakfast in the Bonita Springs area! The atmosphere has an old diner feel like you're back in time. I believe our server's name was Jeremiah and he was fantastic!!! Food was absolutely delicious and came in large portions. Showed up on a Saturday around 8:30am and had to wait 15 minutes. Nothing negative to say about Mel's. Keep up the great work.
Mel's is one of our favorite places! Extensive menu... everything we've ever ordered was so delicious!
