Great food! We were on the prix fixe menu but beware, the wine or beer that come with it only their house choices and alcohol is pricey there.

Glutton for punishment! Third time chicken was ordered and it was so dry it was inedible. Peppers, broccoli, onions and sausage were fine. Never again! Linguini - more like limp spaghetti- in bland clam sauce. Never again. Baked clams were yummy. Also, very good bread!
Mateoâs is one of my favorite restaurants, but I had a very disappointing experience there on Saturday evening. Everything about it was subpar, especially the service. Although our order was taken promptly, and our drinks served within a reasonable amount of time, everything else was not right. It took a very long time to get appetizers, with the server initially bring someone elseâs order to our table. When the correct food arrived several minutes later, it was delivered room temperature, not hot. We were hungry, so we didnât send it back. We then had to wait a very long time for our entrees. We were told on one occasion that it was âcoming out shortlyâ but that was fifteen minutes before it actually was served. And when the food arrived, only 3 out of 4 people were served. The 4th person had to wait an additional ten minutes for his food, and when it was finally brought to the table, it was warm, at best!. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant had emptied out significantly, but nobody seemed in a hurry to clear the table or take dessert orders and by the time the server finally came over to inquire, all we wanted to do was to pay the bill and leave. I will probably put this restaurant on pause for a while because of this disappointing experience and, because it was one of my favorites, give it another chance in a few months.
Everyone had a birthday there ! Everyone! We came for a bday as well, we decorated the birthday table and had a large group =13 people. We had to remind our waiter for wine, water and even to ask for the birthday cake. Unfortunately he forgot that as well, guess he didnât see the vivid happy birthday decor. Our birthday girl received a slice of cake with no candles or a song. Waiter once realized ran back with the dessert he already placed for her to add a sparkler. Food was unfortunately not tasteful and only 3 people were satisfied with their meal, not to mention they all ordered the same thing. Portions do run large but I didnât want to take the food home. Must to try is there spicy calamari, that was perfection and probably the only thing I will have if I have to revisit the place. Donât mix spicy for the regular calamari, regular calamari was basic and boring and not tasty.
Chicken Mateos was very dry and hard! It must have been pre cooked and heated. The server was not good, brought the wrong wine, didnât know it was the wrong wine among other complaints. Food not up to the usual quality!
The food was delicious! Huge portions even when ordering the regular portions. Hot Bread was amazing and tasted delish with red wine. We will definitely be back!

Great family-style Italian with excellent service although, can be a little slow on season. Fun for people watching.
