I like the cheese grits. That's it ... just the cheese grits. Cod fish portions were very small not fried entirely so not very crispy.. very unenthusiastic about this restaurant. my first time and last time. Staff was fine but the food was only basic flavored and needs a lot of work. The only difference between going to a Frozen food counter and fry it myself was getting the box in a bag. and it Would have been cheaper too. No thanks.
The grilled fish sandwich is the stuff of dreams. However the service is very inconsistent. We have to always check the order before heading home because something is always missing. We get fried when we asked for grilled, missing sides, condiments; missing, drinks, etc. What a hassle when you’re hungry. It definitely takes away from the experience. I hope this improves. I love supporting local as well as black owned businesses.Update: downgrading my review. Gave them another shot and again- order was wrong. This time, I got the blame game and the you will need to wait while we fix it because we have others waiting which really ticked me off. Not coming here again. You’ve lost a weekly customer.
Wow! What a great place for lunch. Family friendly and amazing food. I’d say get the spice poor boy and my 11 year old loved the bowl. Go find this little place in a strip center and enjoy
Good was good. Surprisingly, the burger was excellent but no one wants to receive the bill in a proud black owned business holder. If a white, asian, latin individual did this they would be called racist! Would have received 5 stars otherwise. Never again.
This place was such a disappointment. I mean no harm but this is probably one of these worse meals I've had in years. I ordered the blackened fish tacos recommended by the nice young lady. They put undercooked rice. She was not blackened. Season terribly. Was not fresh, couldn't eat. Great customer service, terrible food. Just glad I didn't waste too much money.
Aside from the "fryz", the tortilla was the best part of my tacos. The shrimp was a little boring, the rice had no flavor and the texture of it was akin to sand or straw. Overall, whoever put the menu together had their heart in the right place but the execution just wasn't there. Also, the condiments were all sticky and dirty and the tablecloths were pretty bad.
Not great...so disappointed because I had hoped this could be a go-to place in Apopka.Nearly broke my tooth on a something hard in the slaw that I could not identify...adding a photo of it.Went in between rush hours and received an unfriendly welcome. It seemed like the woman was busy with other things (no one in the restaurant but me) and didn't want to be bothered.Ordered Ahi Nachos which were just okay although I did like the seasoning. There is a great deal of competition for people's dine-out food business...it makes me wonder why independent restaurants are not more friendly and kind...
Went for lunch and would like to try for dinner. The restaurant is clean (spotless), the service is friendly, and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.
I ordered the Blackened Tilapia and grits and It was DELICIOUS! Very well seasoned without being salty. I cant wait come back and try something else. Love that it's a Black owned family restaurant. Great friendly people, great service! I'll be back soon!
Excellent food, tastefully prepared, as uncomplicated and great as a visit can be… meaning we were greeted, given time to order, told the specials and served our food. The food was great. The atmosphere was calming and relaxed. Love it will go back! Service was great! Thanks for a great lunch.
