On a weekday evening, my party was the only one in the building. Nevertheless, the building smelled like they were cooking fish for dozens of people. The live band was enthusiastic but made conversation with my party impossible. That's expected at a nightclub but not at 8pm on a weekday. The service was OK but I wouldn't return.

Took the family here on a Saturday afternoon. Never had English food in my life! I'd say, it was an interesting cultural experience. We had a Scottish Egg, Fish and Chips and a Toffee Pudding. They were an incredible eat, the batter was light and airy and the pudding had me hooked until the last spoonful! The inside is a great and tiny hole in the wall pub. Can't recommend this enough!Be aware the food, does come somewhat plain, as from my understanding is how authentic British cuisine is prepared. So utilize the sauces to enhance the flavor!

This was my 2nd time here. The fish and chips were excellent. The fish was very flaky with a perfect golden crust. We were at a table then moved to the bar. Service at both spots was great especially considering it was a Friday night, plus we were a party of 6. I will be going back

It was our first visit here. It was recommended by a friend although I don't think that we will be back anytime soon. The food was delicious, but service was incredibly slow. Our order was taken at 4:19 and we didn't get to pay until 6! We had one appetizer for the whole table, three orders of fish and chips and one roast beef plate. After waiting (again), we had our dessets to go. We also had to ask three times for to-go boxes. Our waitress seemed to have the entire room by herself, although I did see another woman who cleaned the tables.

If you're looking for good live music and fantastic British food, look no further. Stoney's has been a North Wilmington staple for three decades and there's a reason why: it is uniquely authentic in both its cuisine and and libations. The shepherd's pie, which my wife got, was not only well seasoned but was a very reasonable portion size. I got the Bridie and it was also perfectly cooked inside a delicate pastry that melted in my mouth. We had dinner with another couple who both got the fish and chips and they told us it was the batter was very light as it should be.Now on to the booze; there are several solid British beers on tap and and an even bigger bottle selection. Try anything from Samuel Smiths and you can't go wrong. For an after dinner dram I had Stoney's whiskey of the month (for the life of me I can't remember the name) which was a 25 year old for only $10!The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because our table was set up right next to the band, who were great, and at times it was hard to hear ourselves. It might behoove Stoney to remove a table or two that are right up front when a band is playing. If you're looking for a different experience than your normal eating establishment then give Stoney's a try. Just be patient with the staff; like the rest of the industry Stoney's is not immune to staffing shortages and your meal will probably take a little longer than what you're accustomed to. I promise it's worth the wait.

We heard great things about Stoney's and were very disappointed. Great fish and chips, great service, worst hot roast beef sandwich I have had. The meat was tough and tasteless. Very disappointed. We will not be back.

Very nice cheerful waitress. Nice drink menu. Stylish interior.

We came here to have dinner before going to a show. The food was good overall but there were some minor disappointments. The sandwich I ordered was listed on the menu as being served on a roll but came on bread. A side order my husband ordered never came. And it seemed that the food took a long time to arrive.

This place is great. My wife and I met the owner and he told us about how he was a promoter for musical acts back in the seventies and eighties. There was also a great band playing blues music.

I opted for the very non-English fare of burger, fries, and a Coke. But everything was good. Maybe next time I'll go a little further afield and try something like the bangers and mash or the fish and chips. It really did feel like I was in a pub in England, except that American football was playing on almost every TV screen. So kudos on the atmosphere.
