The food was good to ok in quality and taste, but the atmosphere really took away from the dining experience. We sat down to eat, and saw there were paper plates and red solo cups set at the tables, with plastic forks and spoons. My chicken biriyani had a huge pile of rice, but only 2 chicken wing drumsticks and some small chunks that were half bone. The lamb vindaloo and palak paneer were good, as was the naan bread. All that said, the peeling paint, soggy paper plates, dirty and falling apart menus, and general air of neglect took away from the dining experience and made me wonder about the condition and care taken in the kitchen. I have previously eaten here a number of years ago, and the food was phenomenal, but I don't think they have kept up that same standard. Wait staff was friendly and timely.
Excellent authentic Indian cuisine. Friendly wait staff but they're a little slow. Waited a while to pay the bill and they weren't that busy. The decorations are reminiscent of India and the Dosa, chai, and chicken combo were all absolutely delicious. So far the best Indian restaurant in the area. My husband is from India and this it the only food he has actually enjoyed while eating out. ☺️
Very disappointed with experience at the restaurant. Their website claimed they offered an Indian-style food buffet; when I arrived I was told by host he thought there used to be a lunch buffet but was 'unsure.'. I decided to pick some favorites of the menu, the server felt it necessary to dispute with me the things I ordered as he felt they would "be too spicy for you.". After I assured him I knew what I was ordering, he went away. The overall condition of the restaurant was, politely, shoddy. The walls were half finished, poorly painted, and dirty. The carpet on the floor was worn out. Large sections of the restaurant floor were closed off by curtains on moveable systems.I was astonished when I was provided paper plates and disposable utensils! The quality of the food I received was meteoker, at best. My appetizer was described as soup but was anything but. My main courses were lukewarm and my rice was cold to the touch. My sever never checked on me and I was left to my own devices long after I finished eating.I thought the price of the food was high and the serving sizes seemed small (as compared to other sit down Indian style restaurants I enjoy).
Amazing Dosa, but the accompaniments like Sambar, Chutneys, Masala are below par. The host and waiters are amazing and welcomingBut the heart of South Indian Food is Sambar and Chutney, and sambar needs to sweet, tangy and spicy to go with South Indian Dishes. Hope they improve. Not the same as more north eastern godavaris
Food rating 5 and ambiance and amenities rating 1. Was visiting family in Delaware and stopped in for dinner, No complaints on the food. All the appetizers, curries and naan’s were super delicious. But a big disappointment when went in for hand wash. The restrooms were intolerable. If you live nearby just order takeout skip dining in. Food is just amazing.
Terrible Service on 01/15.I been to this restaurant several times. I always had a better experience from this location. (Appologies for not giving a review for that) Today I went in even though I knew the restaurant close at 3pm. I got there @ 2.40pm. 20 minutes before closing. They mentioned that as we came in as well. Then again for the waiter to come and say the same thing over and over sounds like they don't even want us to be there. As a courtesy he is willing to give me an other 15 minutes for me to finish my food.I just ordered 1 item just for my daughter. Otherwise I wouldn't waste their time even for that. This kind of service is a specialty of Godavari
Good food but need to improve dining they need more servers….
Non vegetarian dishes are awesome. One of the best biryani in east coast. I tried multiple restaurants in nj, ny, pa, md etc, but this is best place for biryani lovers.Biryani is value for money. They will provide huge quality, two persons can eat it. Both chicken and goat biryani are awesome, authentic Hyderabad biryani taste. Tandoori chicken, kingfisher spl chicken, chilly chicken all are awesome. I think, they are imported spl masalas from India. Kingfisher spl chicken masala is remembered my childhood memories, we loved it.Vegetarian dishes are not up to the mark. But again panner biryani is awesome. I tried very less numbers of vegetarian dishes, all are ok level. One star decreased for veg dishes and ambiance? They can improve ambiance
Best Indian food I've ever had, you can tell that the flavors and recipes are treasured secrets of the chef. I ate a lot of South Indian food from a lot of different places but this place stands out you'll have to take my word for it. And the people that work in this place are extremely friendly and nice. It was a very generous spread. I went there with my wife and child I personally had masala dosa and ginger garlic fish. I wasn't even ready for how good that fish was and the masala Dosa is a unique recipe that's their own.
To live a full life we have to full our stomach. Godavari is the excellent place for food dine in, take out. Good staff very reasonable prices. I loved a lot. I ordered many times from this restaurant.
