I understand bad days happen but damn. It's only getting 3 stars because the fish was good. The cornbread was dry and lacked flavor and the mac and greens were waaaay too salty. I was really disappointed because I was really looking forward to trying their food.

The catfish melted in my mouth. It was seasoned to perfection. The Mac and cheese is okay yams slamming oh and tge cornbread is excellent, get an extra piece.

3 stars only because of the chicken... They have some good fried chicken..Fresh big size pieces... Seasoned nicely... The chicken was the best part and i would go back solely for that...I would not recommend the cake... It tasted like flour.. it was super thick and dry.. no flavor at all.. nice large piece but no flavor at all except flour... Wasnt able to eat it at all... The yams were edible so were the greens and green beans.. tasted like way too much vinegar but edible... The mac and cheese gets ZERO stars.. do not order it... It tasted like box.. no cheese.. noodles tasted weird.. it tasted like margarine salt and pepper.. no cheese at all... Had to spit it out and trash it.. kids couldn't and wouldn't even eat it... Overall.. if u want some good chicken.. I would recommend.. I guess this is a hit or miss type of store.. u have to catch them on a good day

I waited until my second experience to write a review and sad to say my second experience was the exact same as the first.1. The fried chicken was fresh and tasted edible...not horrible and for sure not delicious2. The yams were basic...tasted like pancake syrup was the only ingredient3. The mac and cheese was trash...tasted like box..not from the box tasted like the actual box. Both times i have had this was exactly the same. Nasty! I'd rather pay $25 for a medium portion of great take out than $14 for a large portion of trash.

The food was not fresh. It was boxed mac and cheese, frozen fried fish and the greens were left over. Definitely overpriced! I hear this used to be a great place . I wish I have visited it then because now its just a bad taste in my mouth.

The food isn’t always good, but on the days that it is the food is amazing. Evelyn’s have the best fried catfish. I have never had catfish that tasted as good as Evelyn’s catfish. They have no competition when it comes to the catfish. Everything else is a hit and miss but the catfish is the only thing that keeps me coming back.

1/23/2022 was my first visit to Evelyn’s Soul Food. The staff was great down to the little guy at the door. I ordered 2 platters Baked Chicken & Flounder. However I was not happy with the food. The Mac & cheese was too salty, the potato salad was bland and the baked chicken was not good nor was the gravy that was on the baked chicken. The greens were bitter and flounder could use more seasoning. I feel like this was the end of the food since they were closing in an hour, however the taste should still be the same. My meals cost $35, I should have spent that at the market and made my own dinner. I guess this was the price I paid for being lazy. Maybe I caught them on a bad day.

I would not eat here again. I'm still in disbelief that I spent 9 bucks for this.... My teenage nephew coulda made a more pleasant lookin breakfast. The eggs are dingy like they was cooked in a dirty pan and did not have the cheese I asked for (had to come home and melt cheese on the ALREADY overcooked eggs), home fries was like mashed potatoes and a but salty. I try to support black owned but y'all killin me ?

Amazing! I tried the fried Tilapia, baked apples, and mac and cheese. I haven't been able to get it off my mind ever since, I might just need to get some more today. :D

Never have everything on the menu. They have a problem if you want to order alot of sides, if its on the menu you should be able to order it without issues, if you paying for it. ALWAYS sound like they have an ATTITUDE!!!!
