Out first visit to this restaurant based on good reviews here. We were not disappointed. We were prompted seats outdoor around 7:30 pm on a Friday evening. My partner had gazpacho soup and I had caramelized cauliflower as appetizers. Both were excellent. For entrees, he had striped sea bass and I had fried chicken. Again, they were superbly cooked and delicious. My partner finished off with a flourless chocolate cake as dessert.Compared to a couple other restaurants nearby such as The Salt Air or Unwind at the Beach, The Blue Hen's menu is more limited. There are only about six choices for entrees, one of which was actually a burger. I wish it had more choices.

We are frequent diners here and have always loved it. The food and service are consistently amazing, which is why we chose this venue for our son's wedding. Our expectations were surpassed! Heather and her staff made the planning process smooth and stress free, and handled everything on the actual day. Our guests loved all of the food and beverage offerings and the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Thank you for a memorable event!! Looking forward to our next dinner!

The service was great and the food delicious! We were seated outside on the patio Waiter took our order quickly and was attentive- we had the biscuits (a must try), oyster and corn chowder and double patty burgers. *would definitely go back

We enjoyed our dinner here. We got a side a macaroni, the seafood platter, asparagus soup, and the lobster toast to share for dinner. The seafood platter was good, but a bit steep at $38 considering that they are only giving crab claws instead of lobster now. The crab was a bit overcooked, but everything else was good.Asparagus soup was excellent and light. Lobster toast was delicious and very rich. The macaroni was also quite good.Ambience was fun. Service was also pretty good--their little touch of separating the soup into two bowls when we specified we wanted to share showed care. Our server did seem a little inexperienced, but overall did a very good job. We'd be happy to come back.

Excellent food and service. It's a bar and restaurant located in a hotel but not standard bar food. High class, gourmet at reasonable prices. The bar area seemed popular--it was crowded and noisy--but the restaurant area was quieter with sound dampening tiles on the ceiling and wall and subdued lighting highlighting the painted blue hen on the wall. Enormous windows added to the feeling of open airiness. A server immediately poured fresh water as soon as we were seated and refilled when I emptied my glass quickly. It was a cold, rainy night and I was looking for something hot but light to eat, so either soup or appetizer was going to be my choice. I asked if the asparagus soup was served hot or cold and was told it was hot but that there was also a seafood chowder not on the menu, so we both ordered that. It was delicious! Nice selection of wines, beers, and mixed drinks. Dessert menu appealed but we'd had a big lunch, so we skipped it.

My husband and I had a salad meal, he had the beet salad and I had the chopped salad. Also we had shrimp soup which was quite delicious. All of their meals were mouth-watering and enjoyable.

Stopped here for Happy Hour! Enjoyed a Fresno and wine, shrimp cocktail and oysters on a half shell, service was friendly nice. Appetizers were delicious.

Eaten at this place before while staying in Rehoboth and it’s always been good, but our most recent dinner was just exceptionally delicious. Asked to be seated outside as inside was way too covidrelaxed during omicron for comfort, and that was a good call for us. Loved the fire ambiance and heaters. Waitress was really helpful in suggesting options.

Highlight of our mother/daughter weekend was an outstanding dinner at the Blue Hen. We had a massage at the Avenue Apothecary and Spa and were starving afterwards. We strolled into the Blue Hen and were seated immediately. Attentive waitstaff, excellent food, great atmosphere... highly recommend!

My wife, son and I expected more from The Blue Hen because of the generally good reviews. Every entree was average at best. The fried chicken was bland and somewhere well below Popeye’s. The pasta in a meat ragu was nothing special. And the red snapper was just fairly good. The worst part of the meal was the strange behavior of the hostess. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, the hostess chose to seat another couple in a table about a foot from our table. This in a time of a rapidly spreading virus. The couple complained and were moved to another table. We were relieved but upset. Then a few minutes later the hostess brought another couple to the same table while 90% of the restaurant remained empty. This couple complained as well and we’re also moved to another table away from other customers. This time I got up to ask the hostess to not seat people next to us when there are so many empty tables. Instead of an apology I was told it’s the policy to not have any distancing. This was strange because up until then the 3 or 4 tables filled were all far from each other. Never have I seen a hostess create such an avoidable mess.
