We ordered takeout from here while visiting the area. My family of 6 mostly had sandwiches and burgers. Everyone enjoyed their food. Would definitely recommend a stop if in the area.
The beer was cold and I enjoyed our waitress, as for the food it was average, I had a burger you could have gotten anywhere, as was my wife's lunch. I would not avoid this place but I wouldn't boast about it either
We had dinner at Iron Hill in Rehoboth earlier this month. We were seated near the bar and I noticed gatorade being stored in the ice that they used for drinks. I hoped the they had washed the bottles if they were cooling them in the ice that they used for drinks. Then, one of the servers came along, dug her hands into the ice, pulled out a bottle, opened it up and drank some, closed the bottle and then dug it deep into the ice. There were multiple bottles being stored in the ice. Yuck!! Workers were using the ice that were used in customers drinks, as their personal cooler, and putting their dirty bottles and hands in the ice. I did email Iron Hill before posting this, but they have not responded. This is a clear health department violation and makes me wonder about food safety at this restaurant.
Visited on Memorial Day and restaurant was not too busy, but short staffed and we were not able to sit in area we requested. Food was good--one person enjoyed the Burger of the Day. Another had the Tinga Tacos and they were good as was the Baja-Style Fish Tacos. The last person last diner, asked for the Asian Salmon Burger whiteout the bread/bun. Pretty basic and would allow the restaurant to not have to throw it away when he didn't eat it. But...the salmon arrived as a sandwich and the diner didn't want it. I believe, as time goes on, the staff will pay attention to orders like that.
Since we moved to DE, we have been joining our friends at Iron Hill Brewery the first Thursday of the month, since we joined their awards/vip club(or whatever they call it). By being a member, you get 22oz drafts for a lower price, and points that go for dollars off on future visits, and special tastings and double points on the first Thursday of the month. We've only been 4 times so far, and had the same waiter Marcus(with dark hair :) , always a pleasure when he is our waiter, and the food we had those times was presentable but somewhat high priced, but it is a resort beach town, so somewhat expected. This most recent visit was awful. The waiter didn't seem to understand how to give good service and had more interest in hanging with a table full of ladies, along with just getting lost in his job duties. I had ordered salads twice(I think they were the brewhouse salad that is kind of like a Cobb salad) and a pork belly sandwich another time, and those were good. I opted for the OVERPRICED $16.95 meat trio pizza this time, I thought they were flatbread rectangular pizzas in the past, but this was a round pizza(medium sized), didn't notice any meat on it but maybe a little was hidden, and was similar to a frozen pizza, but I've had a lot of frozen pizza's that were better than this. For this first Thursday visit , they had a siracha chicken slider taster, sweet potato fries, and a sample of their orange creamsicle shake ipa. The ipa was tasty after the first shock taste, the siracha slider barely had any flavor, the sweet potato fries were gooey/soggy, seemed like they needed to be crisped somehow and flavored better. We were there probably about 2 hours trying to get our server multiple times to return. We finally got our past waiter to find a manager, which was also somewhat challenging, he was nice but think he was overwhelmed with lack of workers and other situations. It appeared that one of the managers was even back helping to cook? The atmosphere here is nice, the beer prices aren't way expensive, especially if you're a member of IHB, but something needs done with food quality, prices, and looks like they need more employees and management training.
My partner and I are visiting the area for vacation and were looking for a spot for lunch. This place did not disappoint. It was clean and the food and drinks were delicious. We had the pub burger and the naked burger salad. Chuck was our bartender and he was excellent and sitting outside was great. We would definitely come here again for a laid back vibe and good food and drinks.
The drinks were great and so was the chicken pot pie that I ordered. Get the flight of drinks it's worth it!We have a great time conversing with the bartender and the manager, and traded stories. The atmosphere was great it's just too bad I'm staying here for one day. Btw their burger looks great, wished I ordered it.
We are in town for vacation. Loved the friendly staff and food. Large portions. Amazing burgers! Highly recommend the Pub Burger! My husband had the Hot Tropics Mule, it's definitely got a kick (spicy), not bad but if you hate spice I wouldn't recommend it. Our server Matt was amazing, such a nice guy!
Every time we come here the food is amazing, service above & beyond- a great [email protected]
My brother who rarely has anything negative to say about anyone or anything offered this high praise for Iron Hill:"At least the food wasn't that bad."Our service at this restaurant was comically bad.10 minutes after being seated, we had to ask for someone to come and wait on us - which prompted a manager to come and take our drink orders (this was the first time I asked for a water). About five or ten minutes later, our waitress finally arrived and took our appetizer and food orders. Time passed and our drinks ran out and our appetizers showed no signs of arriving. I flagged down our waitress and asked for another beer (about 20 minutes after finishing my first and the second time I asked for a water) which took at least another 20 minutes to arrive (verbal apologies followed). Somewhat comically, our waitress arrived with a water pitcher clearly intending to fill the glass I never received and then had to sheepishly go and get an actual glass. After almost an hour after waiting for our food arrive, we flagged down our waitress for a second time and told her that if we didn't get our food soon, we were just going to leave. Food arrived shortly thereafter (along with more verbal apologies). The food (as my brother said) wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. It was pub food; something you expect from a brewery who's main job is to keep your beer glasses full (which wasn't happening with us).As soon as our food arrived we asked for the check and a box (just one) thinking this would be our best opportunity. Amazingly, it took more than 20 minutes just to get our check (and more verbal apologies) but no box, at which point we just wanted to leave. It was clearly obvious to our waitress that we were unhappy and she wasn't offering us even decent service. And yet, there was no offer to comp fountain drinks, apps, or something else. We doubted that if we had gotten up and left if anyone would have noticed. The beer was good but wasn't worth 90 minutes of sitting in a hard wood chair trying to get service.
