We had my son and daughter in law's wedding rehearsal dinner at the Stone Balloon. Rob, the manager, made it a perfect evening. Our waitress, Olivia, did an awesome job.The food was great!I highly recommend the Stone Balloon.
Stone Balloon is one of the best restaurants in Newark, DE. I’ve been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it’s never been a disappointment. Recently went and got $5 cocktails and keg fries. They are to die for. 10/10

Ordered the “beef short rib” goulash. 90% noodles, 8% watery liquid, and maybe 2% beef. I asked the waitress about the lack of beef and she simply said “this is how it’s made”. Worse meal I have ever had. Wife’s dish was a little better but certainly not worth even the thought of a return visit. By the way, don’t believe the menu on their website. Nothing like the one in the restaurant.
This is a review of the management. I have called 4 times over the last 5 weeks. 3 times the phone has been answered (all calls placed during working hours). When I ask to speak to someone about reserving for a large party I am asked to leave my name, number, and email for the manager to return my call. Never once was I contacted. I also used the online large party inquiry form, ~ 4 wks later I have not heard a thing. If you can't or won't support large events then remove it from your listing.
Stone Balloon is on our come back to list. We had driven many hours, checked into our hotel and my spouse had searched and suggested Stone Balloon. It was busy and we waited a few minutes to be seated. Food was good, cocktails were good, we shared appetizers and such but perfect. Service was really good and it was obvious the servers were hustling.
I don't even want to give this establishment a star because my first and last experience there was that horrible! My boyfriend made reservations for us at 5:45 pm Saturday 2/12/22 which we were greeted and promptly seated by a hostess then after that nothing more happened. We waited at our table for 25 minutes without any acknowledgement i mean absolutely none. I can say about two more parties we're seated after us which when we looked up had water and drinks at least on their tables, meanwhile we had nothing! We moved to a table across from us that wasn't done being cleaned but we sat there anyway to get attention low and behold that got us noticed, we asked for a manager who offered us free appetizer and desert which made no sense because we wanted items from the prefixed valentines menu which couldn't be comped so all in all nothing was done, also it was about 6:15 pm and all we had was two waters at our tables lol like never again !!!! Also there's more to this horrific experience but i'm not trying to make this review any longer ........
Boyfriend finished the high five burger and got a sweet T-shirt. Food was pretty good. Everything was reasonably priced. The bartender, Michelle had a decent crowd of regulars that she obviously had coming back for more. She had great suggestions. Service was excellent. Loved the atmosphere.
