Went here for the first time and was extremely disappointed. From the start the person at the register (I think the owner) was abrasive. We got a cheesesteak and bacon cheese burger. The steak had absolutely no taste and I asked for ketchup and pickles on it and they forgot the pickles. Then with the bacon cheese burger the cheese wasn’t even melted. So as you can imagine the burger patty was a little more than room temperature. When we complained and asked for a refund the man at the register immediately got defensive. I had eaten 75% of the cheese steak and didn’t mind paying for that but barely touched the fries and the burger was at best 45% eaten. But the man didn’t want to give any refund at first and again was just extremely abrasive. He ended up giving us $6 back. Wow. So in summary I’d avoid this place. Terrible food and customer service. I’m only giving two stars because they gave us some money back. Otherwise 0/5 for everything else.

Have ordered two beef cheesesteaks from here in the past two months. They were consistently good, well seasoned and moist. Not sure what other review meant by no flavor, as they ask what you want added to the sandwich. Two thumbs up for me.

Came in here to eat on a hot day and the A/CWas warm or they didn't have it on ..I thought I had left my credit card on the tray when I dumped it so here I am digging in the trash feeling like a fool as the 2 people behind the cash register watch .... so I walk around the place looking on the floor ... I go up to the register and ask if I can take the trash home with me so I can do a better search .... they said sure ... then I just ask them hey did I leave a credit card up here . They said yeah there's one rite here .what's your name .... seriously you've had 2 customers the whole time we been here and you asked me for my name when we ordered .. even my friends said .. and they knew we were looking for somthing why didn't they ask ....And the food was NOT GOOD at all ....

Visited the Newark branch of "Claymont Steaks" ... got the worst cheesesteak of my life. Unseasoned mushy meat resembling boiled ground beef. Fried onions soggy, rubbery, only had that pungent raw onion taste. One mushroom per steak. If you want to eat a good... a real cheesecake, go anywhere else but the newark Claymont Steaks. The place was empty... (no wonder...)

I've been supportive of this place for years. But this was really my worst experience. Steak, steak pizza, and onion rings were all overdone. Really disappointed ☹️. Husband and I won't be returning. Sorry.

So soOverpriced. Even for Newark. Catering to rich college students. Service less than stellar. Food ok. Portions medium sized, not at all like the old Claymont Steak shop in Claymont. Lots of menu items not available (due to Covid). I get that, but just put a piece of masking tape over the non available items, duh. Instead of a sign saying "Some items not available...", then getting steamed when customers ask for items that aren't available. Lots of items on the menu have no price listed. Don't get mad when people ask the price...Bacon cheeseburger came without bacon. I was too tired to start complaining, so I just had 3 fountain sodas, and no tip. That made up for the bacon.

I ordered for pickup from the Newark, DE location. The large portions and decent price point. Unfortunately, I did not find the food tasty. I didn't eat but a few bites of the Steak Cheese Fries and Meatball Sub as it was flavorless. This was my first time eating here and unsure if this is normal or a one off. I offer no opinion at this time.

Third bad experience at the newark location…Poor customer service and disrespectful employees. When my husband and I walked in the shop, the young man at the front was on his phone not even wearing a mask. Seems that he was irritated that customers entered. This location always had employees with poor attitudes. Despite the food being good, I will not be back. What a shame!

I normally have no problems with Claymont Steak Shop out Newark . Today I used door dash , to order my food , about an hour passed & no update or nothing . It just said per-paring food .. I called the Newark location severals of time after it said my order was in process . Finally I decided to call a different location to only find out they where closed. I think they should have an answer machine stating their closed due to inclement weather or update on social media .

Just got here for the first time and as I ordered a cheesesteak with everything I didn’t know they add spicy peppers on it. I then asked not for it to be spicy and the person (George) gave me an attitude and spoke to me in a demeaning way saying that you asked for it that way. I had a very bad impression from this restaurant and it’s unprofessional staff.
