First time patrons, out of state. A big shout out needs to go to our server, Krista, she is awesome, thank you.I’ve had a lot of chowders, throughout the mid Atlantic & New England. As of today 06/29/2022 the best crab chowder I had to date is here, hands down, indisputably.Taste, texture, aroma, nailed it.The same goes for crabs, I’ve had a lot throughout the mid-Atlantic. And again, hands down, the best I’ve had in years. (Former #1 has since closed is why).We had the Cajun garlic sautéed. Nailed it.It is an quaint unassuming casual place.I’m almost hesitant about posting, because this place qualifies as keeping secret, but I need to give the recognition this place deserves. Will make the pilgrimage here whenever passing thru again.
Our hotel concierge recommended this place and we drove up to this little mom and pop hole in the wall with trepidation and delight. Oh. My. Heavens. This place is packed with locals which is always a good sign. The second good sign was when we were asked if we had reserved crabs. No, but that was ok, we were reassured, they had plenty of good sizes and varieties still available. We placed our choices in the hands of our server Theresa who steered us right. We shared half dozen medium blues, a crab cake appetizer and a jumbo fried shrimp appetizer. The crab cake was zesty and flavorful and I do know my crab cakes. The fried shrimp was excellent.I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to eat another bite but the crabs? They are so packed with flavor we couldn’t be bothered with our melted butter and spicy sauce. (I never neglect my butter but the seasoning was perfect!) Theresa even offered to help us with opening them, but we watched nearby tables and mastered it quickly. In NC we always order snow crab legs so not complete neophytes. We stopped in this town because it was a halfway point driving items such as a hand crafted child sized baby rocker and things we weren’t comfortable shipping for our future grand baby. I joked with my son that when we fly to Boston we will get a layover in Delaware just to go back to this particular restaurant. These people don’t just know crabs they could teach a MasterClass.
So my friends messed up my "diet" and took me here on a Friday night. I ordered the seafood bowl, broiled crab cake and crab bisque. I didnt really care too much for the seafood bowl seasoning. Everything was fresh, I just choose the wrong sauce to use. It had a lemony garlicky taste that was really powerful to me. But my friends loved it! Next time I'm gonna go with old bay. We also ordered the crab nachos and maaaan do they give you ALOT!!! They made everything from scratch and it showed in its flavors and textures! Sooo good! But that's not the highlight of my visit. My pictures are not doing this justice but the crab bisque was addicting!!! I'm not even a big soup, bisque or whatever eater but I honestly woke up the next day craving it! Mad I didn't get any to go, mad that I'm just now learning about this place, all the wasted years type mad. The bisque was heavy and loaded with crab and other wonderful flavors! The broiled crabcake was amazing too and tasted sooo good with the bisque!! Oh and i had the fruity SOB drink and was sold. That drink was sweet and sneaky. I downed three of them and woke up the next day to videos of me doing tiktocs I barely remember. I love how the fill the cup all... the way up too. I order the wings to go and my husband said they were really good! I also got to meet the owners and they are really great people! The servers were all amazing and attentive as well! Whenever I'm in the area I'm coming for my bisque fix and my SOB!
Bartender was so nice and the crab cakes was everything met the owner once solid guy
I've been here many times before. We always come in for crab legs. It's been a long time since we've been here, because we moved out of town.Couldn't wait and they did not disappoint. Crab dinner better than Joe's Crab Shack and the new place Crab Dujoir. Atmosphere is friendly, like your at home. Service is awesome and great attitude.
This restaurant is known for having great crabs and seafood boils and I'll always come to this place whenever i have a taste for them because their crabs never disappoint! During this particular visit I wanted broiled crab cakes while my friend got the fried crab cake sandwich which he always enjoys! Have to say i was a bit turned off by my order. My crab cakes were unusually greasy and seemed fried instead of broiled. Not sure if the chefs know the difference between the two cooking methods but I enjoyed the crab soup! The drinks and wings are always a hit and must have when i come to visit.
Great food. Great, friendly staff. Very nice atmosphere and I was very pleasantly surprised at the varied beer choices. I wished I lived closer as it would be my go to neighborhood spot. I'll be back!
