Hidden gem within a street of random walk up food near the Library of Congress. Where else can you go where the salt of the earth locals are saddled up at the bar and the bartender takes a shot with the customers? Classic bar food but it all came out incredibly higher than my expectations for a dive bar. Chicken tenders were real chicken & yummy breading, burgers so tasty, mozzarella sticks were huge, one order was 4 and chicken & waffles filling. Servers were friendly & the vibe is local, down to earth. Teens were able to be seated too.
Burgers were really good. The beer battered burger was definitely worth coming to this place. Decor was neat and the place was really clean. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were over cooked/burnt and the service was not the greatest. If in DC again would come back for the burger.
This place is a DC institution. The burgers are legit and it's also just a great bar to hang out at and drink beer and maybe have some chicken wings. If you are visiting this is a must visit and if you live here then you know.
Fantastic atmosphere and delicious breakfast! Excellent service!! Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection and coffee cup continually filled!!
The food was amazing!! I got the Philly cheesesteak and the boyfriend got hot wings! We shared mozzarella sticks! They were all amazing!!!! Cannot go wrong with a visit here if you want some yummy bar food!
I am a fan of a great dive bar so I am now a big fan of the Tune Inn. This place has been there since 1947. Some of the decor probably dates back to opening day! The food is classic dive bar. The fried mozzarella sticks and onion rings are the best I have had. Ricky is a great waiter and you glass is never empty with his service! In a city with so many upscale restaurants it is great to find a laid back watering hole like the Tune Inn. I will be a regular whenever I am in DC. You should be too!
We found this place by accident. What a wonderful little location! I had super delicious blueberry pancake breakfast. The coffee was terrific and the waiter was very attentive. My coffee cup was never empty.I loved the decor. Loads of nostalgia along with a wonderful collection of antiques, fire department gear and heads of stuffed wildlife. It was fun just looking around at the walls and it's kitschy collections.
After a day at the National Library of Congress and the Smithsonian, within a few steps, we found this really cool OG Dive Bar with an awesome decor.
Sadly, my friends and I did not get to receive the experience many mention in their reviews. We had a large party of 20 or so people as we all just left a funeral and wanted a chill place for food and drinks. I’m all about local spots, dives, whatever you want to call it, but the solo bartender/server was overwhelmed the second we walked in the door.No one was demanding service but drinks were being spilled and the frustration was both visible and audible. You, the server, told the woman who just buried her mother, “The damage was done,” when she apologized if it was stressful having so many people at once show up.I’ve been on the other side of the counter and would’ve welcomed the opportunity for the business and tips.
The mozzarella sticks are the best I've ever had. Perfect little dive bar with great food and fantastic taste in music!
