PLEASE READ THE NEWEST REVIEWS BEFORE GOING TO ANY RESTAURANTS. I WISH I DID. We wanted some authentic Chinese food and it was overall good but very expensive! Service was good because there was only one other table. However, there were four of us and we were charged with an unexpected service fee/gratuity, over 20%. No mention of it at all! At the bottom of the paper takeout menu given to us before ordering, it said 6+ will be charged with the fee but it was not 20%!!! I agree with the other reviewers that the place is very outdated. A long and steep staircase to the second floor Chinese restaurant. It was a bad walk for an elderly. The elevator was not working. Is it discrimination against the elderly and the disabled?

Hello tourists in the Washington DC, area. I am writing to warn all travelers and DC natives to NOT eat at the Tony Cheng Seafood Eatery located at 619 H. ST NW Washington, DC 20001. This place was empty for a reason when my family and I arrived for lunch. The chairs were nasty and we had as well as the floors Prior to placing our order I specifically asked if their were any mushrooms in the Spring Rolls, and the waiter said no. So we all placed an order for Spring rolls and the first bit were loaded with Mushrooms. The waiter knew we did not want any mushrooms, but they continued to serve it to us anyway. We did not want to complain, so we covered our dirty seats with paper towels and took the mushrooms out of our egg rolls. As we began to eat our food we noticed all of the waiters sitting around to watch us eat the general tso’s chicken which the taste and texture was very questionable. So I decided not to eat the food and we asked for our tab, once we received our tab, we were hit with a unbelievable fee that was never told to us prior nor was it right. It was only 3 of us and yet we were over charged and hit with a very large gratuity fee. Talking about being greedy, unfair, targeting tourists, nasty attitude, and very unprofessional. Please don’t waste your time or money at this nasty restaurant! I gave a 1 star ⭐️ and that was being nice!Horrible

This place was extremely expensive but the service was fantastic. The food delicious ? and I have an allergy to garlic and onion. It amazed me that they accommodated my allergies and the food still tasted so wonderful. The portions are large so you can share with your loved ones. I definitely recommend this place again. Bring your CC. Well worth what you pay for the food.. warning. There is a surcharge for large groups.

A very capable Chinese restaurant. Highlights: walnut shrimp were huge! Beef lo mein was very good. Pot stickers were fairly weak. General Tso’s was solid. My impression is that that they excel at seafood. A good place for larger groups.

We wanted to grab a bite on our jaunt into town and this looked like a bet to be sure. After making our way up the stairs we were met by the host to took us to a nice table. We were served immediately. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. I ordered the birds nest - and it was amazing. Chock full of seafood, the bowl was made of dried noodles resembling a birds nest. After soaking up the juices of the meat, seafood and sauces, I ate the bowl as well. This was a great meal and the atmosphere was quite nice as well. I definitely recommend!

Wanted to treat ourselves to an evening out, enjoying some really good Chinese food. The food was okay, (although the spring rolls we could not eat; they had a bad flavor), the prices a little high, but the service was definitely not attentive nor cordial. The main server / waiter is rude and insulting, even demandingly so.There are many other places that have better food, with better prices, and with much better service!!!

My wife and I hadn't been in China Town in over 20 years. We made our decision actually by the physical plant on the street. This restaurant reminded us a lot of one of the restaurants we once loved in North Carolina. With that being said, the decor was worn out. Everything screams 1980's in the dining room with the exception of the prices. Lunch for 2 with tip was $$$ 61.00. The quality of the food was great. Fresh and very flavorful. Our waiter was the best. Dressed in a suit, he took great care of us and personalized our meal. Not sure it was enough for a return visit. Needs to be revamped with new decor and new price point.

Food is average , service could be more attentive, food is pricey, soup is expensive and low portion size, and they over charge for hot tea

Not to bad overall. Great service, but food was about average. My beef lo mein was good but the beef was rubbery and not tender like it should be. Price a bit high as well.

Visiting after a 20 year hiatus, everything looks the same and in need of lots of maintenance. The food was 5 stars, but the service was uneven, and the prices high. $250 for 6 people with a few drinks. In the age of Covid, we all need to be flexible so if you keep that in mind, you’ll enjoy the food and experience. Great items included crab wonton, shrimp toast, honey walnut shrimp, and kung pao tofu
