Lived in the DC area for many years and went to do the peddle boats for the first time. It's a great little activity you can do in DC. You get out of the crowds and off the street. It's very calming to slowly peddle arround the water and enjoy the sites. Note that the limit is 4 people to a boat. Actually peddling is easy but recommend going slow.

Easy reservation process (online). Price is great ($35 for a four person paddle boat for 60 minutes). Staff were friendly. No wait. Just beware: it looks a lot more relaxing than it is. It’s hard work! My kids and I lasted about 20 minutes before we headed back. But it was fun.
Be ready for a workout, but the best views of the Tidal Basin are from the water! Very relaxing and enjoyable to just float out on the water, but takes some work to get out and back in. Worth the cost. Pro tip: It's easier to pedal the boat the boat backwards! Just watch out where you're going.
The staff is very rude and act really annoyed about having customers. Once you're in the water, you'll luckily not have to deal with them. The paddleboats are a bit old and they take a bit of effort to get moving. If the weather is nice and you don't have a lot to do, I'd recommend considering this experience.
Not the friendliest staff by any means..but maybe it's just a D.C. thing? as I'm not originally an east coast person. The paddle boats themselves were well made and it was really fun. Great way to see the Thomas Jeffersons Memorial, MLK Memorial, and the Washington Memorial.
Super fun experience! Boats were easy to navigate and the views were spectacular. Would definitely recommend this activity and will definitely do this again!
Interesting that so many people had experienced rude staff when we only experienced delightful staff yesterday. Beautiful day for a paddle: sunny, relaxing float on the basin, and no "heavy lift" pedaling the boat whatsoever. Very enjoyable, even for we residents.
