I'm very concerned that there seem to be zero covid precautions in place at the H Street Wydown, or if there are they are confusingly inconsistent. I went in this morning, and NO ONE except for one barista was wearing a mask!! Last week, nearly everyone was! As someone who lives with a medically vulnerable partner and is mindful of my immunocompromised extended family, the lack of a mask requirement for employees is extremely frustrating. The coronavirus spreads through the air, so high quality masks and good ventilation are extremely important interventions to keep everyone safe. Vaccines are not enough - people who are even triple vaccinated face nearly the same risk of being exposed to the virus and contracting Covid. I am concerned not just for my own safety and comfort as a customer, but for the safety of the staff. Right now, everyone can go to the CDC tracker online, click on "Community Transmissions" at the top yellow bar, and can see a bright, crimson red "HIGH" transmission level for DC. The community level is now YELLOW, as well, which means that hospitalizations and deaths are increasing. I would love nothing more than to continue supporting the Wydown because it remains one of the most relaxing shops to visit close to my home, with good quality food, and friendly baristas. Unfortunately, this continued safety hazard is making me reconsider going altogether as the pandemic continues, and the store is refusing to implement corresponding mitigations. Thank you to the one or two baristas I see consistently masking and I hope everyone can stay safe during this frightening time!!!!!!!!!

Wydown is the definition of modern coffee shop aesthetics. Black and gold interior, floral designs, and friendly barista. Located inside the Apollo luxury apartment and steps away to the Solid State Bookshop. Will have to come back often!

The food was good, but the coffee and the attitude of the baristas was really bad, I ordered a Capuccino, had to ask to remake it and they got it wrong the second time!

The Wydown is 100% the coffee shop spot to hit -- I'm visiting for work, and have popped in more times than I'd like to admit for an iced oat matcha (DELISH). The staff is all so friendly - I have to shout out the H St. Icons Ashley and Izzy for being so wonderful. When you go, you HAVE to get the chocolate orange crinkle cookie - it's truly the best thing I have ever tasted in a cookie.

Super cool place, nice building and good original coffee and tea drinks, vegan friendly. check out the one on 14th as well

Barista was amazing, I asked for a real mug and he said it pains him but they don’t have any buttt he made me beautiful cup of latte which I appreciate a lot. He understood why I would want it in a real mug. Also showed me a new way to use Apple Pay.

The baristas were very considerate of customers and paid extra time and close attention to detail when it comes to getting the order right and queuing it into their workflow, as well as conversing with us.Really cool space. It's connected to an apartment complex, which offers more indoor seating along with a warm and inviting aesthetic. There was a good amount of outdoor seating too, but with winter around, it's nice to have that indoor seating option.

Really disappointing experience. This place is cute and the breakfast sandwiches are good, but the coffee and the barista’s attitude were both truly awful today. We got oat milk cappuccinos and they were so bad that all three of us only managed a few small disgusting sips. I don’t usually send things back, but since I had dropped $30, I politely asked if they could remake our cappuccinos since they were very clearly burnt. The woman working the register was very nice and accommodating, but the barista was incredibly rude and tried to gaslight us into thinking we didn’t know what a cappuccino was supposed to taste like. I would have been less disappointed if he had just declined to make us new drinks, rather than rudely telling us we don’t know what coffee is supposed to taste like. 0/10 for this barista. We did appreciate the woman at the register who tried to make up for the barista guy’s rudeness by offering us drip coffee instead.

Wydown has been a go-to coffee and meetup spot on H St for years now. The Gatsby vibes paired with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating is hard to beat.

pleasant appointments, tastey coffee, great sweet rolls, and really, really nice folks behind the counter. What more could one want in a coffee shop?
