Been going to the Well Dressed Burrito for almost 15 years now and it's always great. Been working from home for over 2 years since the pandemic so I've missed it so much since I haven't been downtown. Went into the office a few weeks ago and had to make my way to the Well Dressed Burrito... and let me tell you... IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They have extended their days and hours and expanded their menu to offer lots more options. I had the shrimp taco salad and it was AMAZING! The fresh grilled peppers, the shrimp was nice and plump and so scrumptiously flavored. And even the hot salsa gave it that extra "umph" yessss hunny! Can't wait til I'm back in the office in a few weeks I'll be back! Next time I'll take pics.
Since 1986, locals will tell you to go to a Dupont Circle alley to find a good burrito. 36 years later, it stands true. After going for lunch on a Wednesday, here's my experience:1) Food: Posted at the entryway in the alley is a long menu of different kinds of burritos, open-face burritos, tacos and other items. Open every day of the week for lunch and dinner, there's always a daily special, making it a more affordable lunch in an expensive neighborhood.I ordered the grilled shrimp taco with mild salsa and all the fillings- lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and peppers, etc. It was good, but I wish I had requested rice to fill in the burrito more. With a line, I only had to wait for 10-15 minutes and ordering was easy!2) Space: It's tucked away in an alley with views of St. Matthews Cathedral. Inside is small, but they make good use of the space. There's a clear area to order and a small dining area that doubles as a waiting area. There's a bookshelf filled with old cookbooks and other items, local art on the walls and a 2014 mural by Bryan King of dancing penguins by the Dupont Circle fountain.3) Neighborhood: Just south of Dupont Circle there are countless restaurants nearby for the lunch and dinner crowds. Public art, museums and art galleries, there's a lot to do. If you love a good deli, wander a block to Bub and Pop's.
Great shredded beef! Super freindly staff!
3 of us--two orders were wrong. Two orders finally served and eaten before the third order arrived--at room temp. Food was just okay and price was high. $4 for queso that looked and tasted like Velveeta--price didn't include any chips.
I went to this restaurant to pick up lunch for my wife who works in Dupont Circle in DC. We love eating here. We ordered online at 11:15 am and it said our ordered would be ready for pick up at 11:41 am. I walked in the rain and showed up at the restaurant at 11:45 am to pick up our order. Door was open and a man just entered before me. I saw some people cooking and looked around, when am Asian man came out of the back and yelled "What are you doing?! We're not open, you have to leave now!" I told him I'm sorry but the door was open and I have an order to pick up. He continue to say " No No we are not open, LEAVE!" I showed him the online order with the time stamp stating that it would be ready for pickup at 11:41 am. He said "can you read?! I said I beg your pardon and he repeated can you read again. I said yes I can read . then you proceeded to point at the door and said this is a sign saying we are closed until 12:00 pm due to a private party. I said "Sir your door was wide open and the sign was hidden to where I couldn't have read it." He being more rude and impatience yelled "No! Next time read the sign!" I told him "Sir ok I am willing to wait for the order. " The Asian man then told me to "GET OUT!" grab the door to close it and said "You can wait out here till 12:00 pm!" I was shocked I was treated like this and mine you it is still RAINING! It's still raining. So I called my wife and went back to her office and told her what happen. She then grab her stuff and told me to come with her back to the restaurant. We got there its still raining and she called and spoke to the manager. What do you know the manager was the Asian man who was rude to me. He then proceeds to talk to her while outside in the rain while he is inside blocking us from coming in. Its 12:00 pm and the manager tells us "Ok now I can let you in" My wife is upset cause she works for a law firm and is on a busy schedule, that is why she sent me to pick up lunch. My wife then go to say who I was treated was unacceptable. The manager just walked away and continue to ignore us and said "I'm done with you people!". The employees made everything better, heard us out. The restaurant had a catering event and even when they did open, they were NOT ready for the customers. I saw more than 12 people being told it would take 20-40 minutes to make their order, all of them walked away because they are on a lunch break. My wife asked if you guys knew about this catering event why didn't anyone call us when the online order popped up at their restaurant and explain they are having a catering event and were not able to make our food? We had to wait until 12:30 pm for receive our lunch. Why did it not show online that they were opening late?! Why didn't management call the people who placed an Online order to notify them of the change in work hours? The Asian manager was rude and very unprofessional. I have never been treated like this ever by any food place I have been to. I would like to speak to the owners of this establishment.
Wow! Can’t get worst than anything I remember having in recent memory. What makes it so much more painful is the price I paid for really bad food. The chicken tasted old and the berria was too sour and came with a watery consommé. It’s just bad. The rice was bland and the beans watery. I really don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. This is what we ordered: Chimichanga (was not crunchy and was more like a bad burrito), the dos tacos, and the baria.
Got the chimichanga and loved it. Huge portion sizes and hot sauce was spicy and went well with the food
From being a restauran to be a place of love and appreciation to his food service, adding the right amount of time and preparation to his “platillos”well-known around the area, must be a great team with a high quality of product to offer, no forgetting their delicious “postressillos” else looking to have a dine in, it’s absolutely reasonable looking at that amount of space offer at that place, it’s completely sure it won’t be a problem, since there’s it’s just to much to se around. At the end of your meal or visit, true happiness will show.
Consistently amazing food whether it be pickup or delivery. Delivery is fast and always accurate. Great portion sizes and the birria tacos are out of this world.
Great food. Best burrito I had in a long time great place
