Travelled to the Ven on a Sunday from the UK earlier in June. Arrived into Dulles Airport and paid about 60 dollars in an Uber to the hotel. Being a weekend the traffic was light. The reception area had a nice buzz about it and the staff recognised that we had travelled for many hours. Check in was swift and room keys given. The room was spacious and stylish. I couldn't fault the room or comfort. We had a twin room (double double). After a freshen up we headed to the rooftop and enjoyed a cold drink. Views over the city and a lovely swimming pool and some tables and chairs and some sunbeds (and a bar). We only really used the hotel as a base to explore the city, but were really glad that this was the hotel we chose. Another real bonus was that the expected 'resort fee' has apparently been scrapped so that saved us over 60 dollars per room. Bars and restaurants in the area were close to walk to. We travelled around by Uber on the whole to speed things up (and were fortunate being a group of 4 so the bill was split four ways). Travelled on from Ronal Regan Airport to Fort Lauderdale. The ride was 25 dollars and about 15 mins. A great hotel in a great location and we managed to get it at a really good price.
Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. This web site will compare countless booking websites and normally will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This hotel is one of my favorites in the area. I've been staying here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you definitely won't be let down.Location was perfect! The staff was amazing! There is an art gallery in the basement! The rooms were nicely appointed. I enjoyed being able to walk around the area and seeing all of the different embassies. I will definitely stay here when I visit the DC area. They charge a nominal destination fee and I loved all of the amenities you are given to offset that. The bar service and offerings were great!
The positives: location is ideal (at Dupont Circle in one minute), and the rooftop pool is a nice rest in the heat. However, this is a mid-tier hotel otherwise. The lobby is vast and stark, with an uninviting bar area and really just a lot of empty space (compare this to the lobby bar-restaurant at the nearby Dupont Circle Hotel, which is incredible). You would not even know food is available, because there is nothing close to suggesting or advertising it. City hotel lobbies are supposed to be nice areas for working, grabbing a snack or a drink, etc. This lobby is a pass through. "Food" available at the rooftop bar includes bags of chips or wrapped ice cream, and the drinks are only beer or wine (compare this to the Austin Marriott at which the rooftop is a full size pool, bar, and restaurant). Service was responsive to issues, but not enthusiastic or overly guest oriented. There was a water issue in the hall floor and they did offer to move us but it was our second to last of six days. An event took place one night (without any advertising) and guests coming in to the lobby felt like they should not be there. For the price there are many better city options. Marriott needs to update this place to be on par with other nearby hotels. Just for perspective we are Bonvoy elite, which is why we choose Marriott hotels in lieu of other nearby properties.
Clean hotel, rather tiny rooms not all equipped with a fridge. Very loudy staff in the corridors. A/c is very loud too. Awful breakfast; everything taste plastic. No buffet breakfast, it’s really the weakest point of the entire hotel, although the breakfast man is super kind and helpful. Super friendly desk staff as well.
I haven't checked into the Ven yet, but my experience already surpassed my expectations when it comes to customer experience. I've been a loyal Marriott member for years and choose to stay at Marriott properties whenever possible. I booked my room in advance and got an amazing rate. Later on I was in my account making changes to my trip coming up in San Fran and I accidentally canceled my Ven hotel reservation. As soon as I realized my mistake I called Marriott to reinstate it-because it was showing up as sold out on their website and there was nothing they could do to help me. I decided to give it another try and called the hotel front desk directly and spoke with Jin who was able to reinstate my original reservation at an amazing rate. She really went above and beyond and I felt that she valued me as a Marriott customer. They're a great brand and have phenomenal people working for them and that's why I am a Marriott member for life!
On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, I purchased two day passes to the Ven's Rooftop pool. It was great weather and the DC public pools were, for the most part, closed. Rather than spend 2k+ on a pool membership in the region (cannot afford that), my son and I have set a goal to hit as many hotel rooftop pools that offer daypasses. The Ven was a nice experience. So, I could totally recommend the one-off visit to the pool and to check out the views of DC. Totally fun to see the Dupont circle Metro stop glass roof (being repaired) and a number of other cool buildings. Always a plus-- my son didn't bring any devices, so he read books and lounged by the pool. It's not really a great lap swimming pool there at the Ven. But, I once had someone teach me how to "Aqua-jog" and no one there made me feel like I was an idiot for doing that. The package supposedly includes the hotel's gym. But that's in the basement of the hotel. It felt like it was a little understaffed at the hotel and I didn't feel comfortable asking for access. Anyway, I was there for the pool. I also was not offered my "canned cocktail of choice." I could have demanded it, but the very sweet gentleman tending the pool food bar/drinks was on his third day, and was a little befuddled that I didn't have a room number to charge things to. HOWEVER, I will admit, I tipped the gentleman and he helped us manuever getting two loungers. THAT WAS WORTH IT. He was super helpful. It was crowded and I was not excited about spending the day there sitting on benches. I asked and 20 minutes later he helped us make it work. THANK YOU. So, for a one-off-- totally worth it! Will I pay a monthly membership fee. Maybe not. Unless people somehow hook me up very clearly with that air hockey table...
Historic building recently renovated with modern decor, 24 hr fitness, on site art gallery, full bar, and free water in the room. Room was tiny and bathroom was even smaller, but I guess this is normal for DC. I appreciate all the design details throughout the hotel, but in my opinion although the bed was for two, it comfortably fits one for a few hours.
Loved my time at this property. The hotel is situated in an amazing location and loved how walkable the area is. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The king room with city views was spacious and perfect for my weekend stay in Washington DC, highly recommend booking a stay here!
I will never stay at this hotel ever again. Not only were the rooms small but I paid in advance for my stay. I was charged almost $1000 additional on my card with no explanation of what the fees were for. The hotel said that their merchant ended up releasing my funds however it has been a week now and there is still a hold on my funds that i cant access. The charge caused my account to have a negative balance. I had planned a vacation trip to DC and this caused a major inconvenience causing me not to have any funds to use which ruined my vacation trip. I would not recommend this hotel.
My wife and I stayed at The Ven from April 30 - May 1 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary with a staycation. I called Eli a few weeks prior after booking in the Bonvoy app. I explained the occasion and he came through in grand form! He pulled out all the stops and worked with me to make sure we had a good stay. We had champagne on ice in the room with chocolate covered strawberries. We also got upgraded to a city view room with a king size bed. My wife enjoyed our stay so much she told me she’d like to make the stay an annual affair. Major props to your hospitality staff especially Eli! The hotel is in a great location in walking distance to shops and restaurants along Connecticut and Florida Avenues. It’s an easy walk to and from the Adams Morgan area too. If you time you stay right you can visit the local weekend farmers market located half a block away from the hotel’s front door.
