Sad little food hall. Pogiboy is great though
I persuaded a friend to walk across town to get here, expecting something like The Block food hall in Annandale, so I was disappointed when we arrived. Luckily, someone left and we got to sit at a table to eat our Pogiboy bowls. This is a popular spot for young people. Too much hassle for two older ladies.
Review for Picoletto: Customer service is a bit abrasive and the wait for door dash deliveries is long and frustrating. The actual pickup time was 20 minutes late and of course that screws with my ratings and earnings from customers. I definitely won't pickup orders from this restaurant again.
Go anywhere else. The venue is cute but the management is terrible. They always seem to be out of a lot of the items listed on the menu. Today my order was messed up (I ordered an impossible burger and was served a regular burger), they asked that I pay for them to remake the order correctly and when I asked for a refund, they messed up the refund and then asked me to pay again. A complete mess, I ended up not having time to eat and will not be back. I recommend you go anywhere else in the city.
This review is for Piccoletto, where the customer service is super unpleasant. When you walk up and are standing at the order counter two feet away from the server, and they don't look at you or say anything to you for a full minute, then finally look up and stare at you, you know you are in for a treat. Then, when your food is ready and they hand it to you without a smile or saying a word (no thank you, no have a nice day), you realize you have gone back in time to an era when customer service didn't need to exist because customers wouldn't write scathing reviews like this. Welp, here we are...The 3 pastas I tried weren't bad, hence the two stars, though 2 of them (the cacio e pepe and the spicy pork rigatoni) were hilariously small. I was interested in trying Piccoletto in the first place because they seemed to offer a variety of tasty sounding pastas for an economical price. Unfortunately, the low price is simply a result of portions that are smaller than your hand. Seriously, just look at my pic and you will see 9 pieces of pasta total and an overall portion size smaller than my fist! I literally ate all three pastas I ordered at once before I was full, so instead of paying $9 for a full meal, I spent $30 on "3" (though really 1 full sized) meal. This place is not worth it, the customer service is awful. Just no...
The Pogi boy food was amazing, but I ordered a drink on the bar... the drink was a Oaxacan old fashioned that was quite delicious, but it was the moat expensive drink I've bought and it was TINY, Like barely over a shot (1 oz) of, and for an old fashioned style drink, that's not a lot, especially for $17
The Block is a food hall has focuses on Asian inspired dishes and vendors.
I enjoyed the ambiance. It was a great atmosphere for the party I attended that night. food was great too
Loooong queue of people waiting to order food. But that is a good sign! The food is good! Fusion Filipino food with baked goods. They have taho, a Filipino tofu drink/dessert/snack, and also turon! The orders come out at a reasonable pace. Will definitely be back there when I go to DC again.
