Lowkey gem. Best deal for Thai food in DC — takeout portions could feed a small army, and it’s consistently delicious. Especially recommend the classic noodle dishes (e.g. Pad Thai) and the Larb.
I originally had high hope for this establishment since I heard such great things however I can not tell a lie. This was not it for me. The portions are great but the flavor leaves a lot to be desired. The fried calamari was horrid. Literally threw it in the trash. The Thia Orchid fried rice special was so so… it’s day three of ordering it and it’s still in the fridge (getting tossed today). Also ordered the chicken Pad see-eww the dog seems to enjoy it so, but the noodles tasted burnt to me and the flavor was very lacking. Perhaps this was just an off day for the cook(s), but for $70 due to ordering via Grub Hub I could have simply driven myself to Virginia to Galae Thia for a fraction of the price and better taste.. maybe in the warmer months I will try again just to see if it was what I ordered and maybe because it was through Grub Hun. I find sometimes that food at the restaurant is better than when delivered so to be continued I guess…
The food was not good. My kaprow inexplicably had corn, carrots green beans, and peas. And that mix (that looked like it came out of a freezer bag) made up more than half of the dish. The sauce was watery and bland. I would give it one star, but the delivery was prompt and someone else was paying the bill, so I don't know how much it cost.

Pretty bad. Iced coffee was good but the food did not taste Thai at all. I ordered delivery, so it might be better in person, but it was very bland and the flavor profile was closer to Mexican food (I had the panang curry).
Their green curry is now one of my favorites, the spice level is excellent. The dish would have been perfect if the sauce wasn't so thin like they made it the day before and if they would have left out the red pepper(this flavor over powers everything in a VERY bad way!) When I ordered I asked for NO PEPPERS IN MY FOOD.The pad see ew, didn't have the proper searing on the noodles and lacked sauce. Big ball of dry noodles.Crab Fried rice was great! Except they loaded it with(you guessed it) red peppers! The person who ordered this loved it and so did I, they just put way too many peppers on this dish. It took away from the sweetness of the crab. The chicken satay was juicey and tender! The peanut sauce was great! The mango lemonade was so good!
The premises looks suspicious and the parking/area is hard to navigate for those unaccustomed to the area. However, bad location aside the food is really good and affordable. It's one of those hole in the walls that packs a lot of quality into their dishes.
Wow!! We were super excited to find a new (to us) Thai restaurant in our new neighborhood. We ordered for delivery through doordash and are really impressed by how well the food traveled. They poked holes in the top of the containers for ventilation so none of our food was over-saturated or soggy. We got the appetizer sampler with 2 each of 5 different apps. They were all incredible, namely the pork dumplings. We also got the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) and they had the perfect amount of spice. We also got the thom kha (my personal favorite) and it was just perfect. What a great meal. This is our new go-to!
This was my first time there and I was impressed with their menu. Staff was welcoming and the atmosphere calming and clean. My single serving was enough for three people. I'm going back very soon!!!
I have been eating here for years and the food is consistently delicious, the service is warm and pleasant and the establishment is spotless. I always intend to venture out and try a new dish but I am so delighted with Red or Panang Curry that I can’t tear myself away; but my husband and daughter love the Drunken Noodle. Thank you Thai Orchid for all the adjustments you made during COVID to remain safely open.
