As a tea place, it's not bad. I was visiting from out of town and decided to check this place out because I saw that it looks like they have real teas (not just generic "green tea," "black tea," etc.). As you can see from the menu pictures, they do have a large selection of teas! So I came in the afternoon and got a drink to go to sip on while I walked around Dupont Circle -- a classic Dragonwell (Longjing) green tea. They gave me a to-go cup with the tea leaves in a sachet (pictured) and you can see it's whole leaves (and if you're familiar, is definitely longjing). No problem, I can measure the steeping time myself, and you might even consider it a win because you can re-steep the leaves later if you want (I tried the next day but it wasn't good anymore). One thing that puts me off is that this place doesn't brew tea in the traditional gongfu manner. You don't see the traditional brew teaware like gaiwans or Yixing teapots and I think that affects the tea's taste unfortunately. Granted, I didn't sit down and drink, so maybe the experience is different from a teapot.Anyway, I waver between 3-4 stars, but I lean to a 4 just because I think places with real tea should be visited over places like Starbucks or milk tea shops (for the tea specifically).
A utterly delightful tea, small plate, and sweets place that never disappoints. A comfortable selection of indoor and outdoor seating perfect for working on your computer or catching up with friends. I got the jasmine crème brûlée which is rich and fresh and the jasmine tea with is perfectly brewed, not bitter at all. Prices are very fair and the servers are kind too. And they have all the information for allergies like gluten on hand if you need it. I’m glad this location stays open until 8.
Tea is pretty good but I didn't find what I ordered to be that exceptional for the price. That said, the upstairs space is excellent and they are very reasonable in how much time they give you for a purchase so this is a great place to go to meet, work, or have a nice relaxing break in your day. Overall recommended for the ambience.
Teaism is serious about their tea. I haven't had a cup quite this good in some time. The kitchen is also very talented.
Felt like I was eating cafeteria food. I ordered the curry lentil soup. It tasted from a can and was not made with fresh ingredients….I also ordered the sweet potatoes with miso sauce. They were served cold, straight out of the fridge. It was also quite an unusual combination and tasted weird… The shop offered to microwave it, I declined. The tea selection was decent but didn’t have the quality I was looking for. Service was ok, but didn’t seem to care. Bye Teaism ?
Delicious tea, scones, chai, and latkas
This place is great!! I highly recommend it. The food is very delicious, great location very convenient, friendly staff, it’s very quiet inside you can literally come here do your work and no disturbances. You can either sit on the first floor or 2nd to enjoy delicious food. If your looking for a parking garage, LAZ parking garage is 2 minutes driving $10 all day.
So many tea choices. There was so much noise from the kitchen when we sat on the second floor.
Went for lunch. Counter service only. Even though we set upstairs, we had to come down to get our food. They messed up my order but fixed it within couple of minutes . Food was good After all.
What a cute place to go for a meal before/after sight seeing at the White House. They have many unique and common tea selections. The food are Asian inspired and not like what you commonly see in other restaurants. Their cookies also look quite scrumptious.
