My official Memorial Day festivities began with dinner at this surf themed restaurant. It is our second visit and the food and service could not have been better. This kitchen does not mess around. Chef and crew “Bravo!” Our server, Tucker, was phenomenal. He was so professional and polite and flawless. If I was in this industry, I would snatch him in a heartbeat. The frozen spicy margarita was delicious. Hats off to the bartender. The pork al pastor Island Nachos, our appetizer, was delicious. For our entrees, we had the Cayman Islands Enchiladas and the Rock House Bowl. Both were masterfully executed and served piping hot. What a perfect evening! Happy Memorial Day.

Great pork belly sliders and Fries. The Tahiti salad was good but there were WAY too many bean sprouts on it. Every bite tasted like just bean sprouts which is a shame because the dressing, and mango give the salad really good flavor. I started to scoop mine off to the side of my plate. My tip is to ask for no bean sprouts on this salad to truly enjoy it fully.

We love Surfside! It was ALWAYS our first night's stop when we would visit DC and usually our last nights too. Today, we finally moved to DC and wouldn't have thought of anything else to celebrate with. The Cozumel is insane and the Port Antonio was a new one for us from Surfside, but we will for sure get it again. Amazing! Try the Horchata, it's very tasty.

I have been going to Surfside for years since before they moved to their current location. But they have this relatively new policy of directing solos to the bar. That had been understandable when crowded. But not when their are twenty empty tables. I have hit my limit with this BS and will not go back again and stick with take out from their DuPont location.

Some of the food we ordered was good (fajitas), some very very average (tuna salad) and pretty lacking in flavor.Margaritas great, beer flat.Cool place, and likewise, some staff fantastic, others throwing food on to the table.Mixed bag all around

super fast service and delicious food. the bora bora tacos were amazing, savory with a sweet twist. spacious interior aswell.

PLEASE BEWARE: dine-in on Sat Jan 8, 2022 & ordered the St. Barts burrito which came with a side of beans. Became violently ill shortly after leaving the restaurant. I have never experienced this degree of food positioning; very intense stomach pain. If not for the current Covid outbreak, I would have gone to the ER. The manager-on-duty indicated that the beans may not have been cooked thoroughly and that someone would get back to me. Never heard from anyone. Contacting the DC Health Department on Monday. Please be careful of the beans :<

Not sure that I will go back. Birds flying inside a restaurant is one of those things that disturbs me. True it echoes the reality of the beach vibe, but in December? Really liked the menu descriptions and warm tropical sentiment they evoked. A culinary trip to St. Bart’s - yes please. I opted for the bowl version of the burrito, thinking of leafy greens, and grilled fish - like the islands. My mistake. What came looked more like a deconstructed wrap with small bits of overcooked fish and heavily dressed chopped salad. My partner’s order of sliders was stacked high with glazed pork belly and pineapple. Pretty to look at and literally too big and tall to bite. I’m all for playing with your food ,but to press it down with your palm to take a bite? We took them home. All in all the ambiance is colorful, fun and cavernous space indicative of a raucous place in better weather. Maybe it was lunch, the season or a shift change or covid reality, but this visit was lackluster.

We had the Culebra (ribs), Nevis taco (shrimp), Pork belly sliders & guacamole w/ tortilla chips. The pork belly was wonderful. The tacos were okay. The ribs were pretty good and the guacamole was so-so.

I got delivery through DoorDash to the Kimpton Banneker Hotel, and though the Horchata did not arrive the rest of the meal was absolutely fantastic. I’m not even sad enough about not having the Horchata to not leave an excellent review and really want to order again because if the Horchata is as good as the tacos are, it is entirely worth it.
