Waited over 30 minutes in line to find out they were out of half the items listed. No one willing or able to answer questions about the food. Food was below mediocre. Could’ve had a nice dinner with the family for the price we paid. I get admission is free but we paid less for more food at the Smithsonian National Zoo and it was way better. Huge thumbs down. Go anywhere else.

Prices are insane. Food is bad. My fries were still froze. My bottle of water was frozen solid.

Spent $14 on a grisly hamburger and fries, no drink. By the time I made it through the line and paid the cashier, food was cold.

Food is bad. Price is insane.

Plenty of seating! Gets hectic during peak tourist season

Big open cafeteria. Food is pricey, but that’s typical for the museums on the mall

We went there because it was our first day in town and hadn't planned for lunch. The place is huge and dirty. They have overpriced cafe food that gets cold while you're waiting 10 minutes to get through the checkout. Then you find that the food sucks.

We stopped while in the museum. The food is okay but like others have said it is cafeteria food and VERY high priced. Best to avoid and eat somewhere else.

We needed a snack while visiting the American History Museum, so stopped at the cafe. It was overpriced cafeteria food, just like you might expect. The place was clean and the food wasn’t bad, but not cheap.

We happened to be right in this Museum of American History at lunch time, so instead of leaving and coming back, we just decided to stay and enjoy our meal in their basement café. Although the prices were above average, there were plenty of good choices for all palates and all diets – Salads, Burgers, Tacos, Chicken Tenders, Egg Rolls, Pizzas Bottled Water and Sodas, and even Desserts. Considering the convenience of the place on a hot and humid day, and the fact that all Museums are free in DC, we had no qualms or complaints what-so-ever in paying that little bit extra for cafeteria food. It was not a 5-Star dining experience, but the place was clean and the food was fresh. That’s all we ask for when we are traveling. There was plenty of nice seating available since the crowds rotate quickly in a touristy area. It is certainly better than the food trucks outside where the hygiene is questionable.
