The food was very good and we would eat there again. Good for vegetarian and vegan options. The "burger" was also very good. The one downside was that the table we sat at was sticky - really needed wiping down more often.

One of our favorite places in DC. It's easy to overlook that it's completely vegetarian because it's completely delicious!!! Fave is the shouk'n caesar salad but Falafel is a close second

Order on the screen. Wait a few minutes and it’s ready. Delicious salad, falafel, pita, hummus. Better than Jerusalem or Tel-Aviv. Better than New York. Fast. Not a great neighborhood but DC isn’t a great neighborhood, overall. Recommended.

Lot's of delicious and healthy Mediterranean vegan inspired food. I got the Za'atar Cauliflower bowl with extra spicy sauce. The meal was prepared in about 15 minutes and cost $14.57. They have both indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine-in. Overall, I was extremely satisfied and will be visiting this establishment again.

Super yummy. I stopped in for dinner, ordered the mushroom bowl over greens with hummus and falafel added; plus a cardamom chocolate chip cookie. The bowl was both tart and savory with the pickling and mushrooms. A good mixture. I was really glad that I added the falafel since this was for dinner, it made the dish feel filling and was nicely complimentary. The cookie was nice, moist and chocolaty, but I like a regular chewy chocolate chip cookie more. It was good for being vegan :) The service was good, the eating area was clean. I liked the Israeli music that was playing. No reason to not come back for more :)

I was visiting DC on business. I was fortunate to be staying near this restaurant, which is certified Kosher. I had the Hummus one day, and it was done well. The mushroom based shawarma was unique and tasty. They use real Tehina from Har BrachaThe next time I ate a plant based burger and lentil soup. Good, satisfying food. I will be back next time I'm in DC.

UPDATE 4/11/22:2 days since first review, and I got back for the falafel. The falafel itself, not sure I've ever tasted the difference of flavor in the falafel itself, BUT... the whole thing put together with the ingredients on it, way better than almost ever place I've had it. I really liked falafel, but I think it's been taken to another level here. But, don't trust me, please, go taste it for yourself. And if you're not vegan or vegetarian, it really is worth going to this vegan restaurant. Wish I could try the burger, but I won't eat mushrooms. Sorry Carla. Looking forward to going back before I leave town. And thanks to the restaurant for responding. So I really wanted to give this a 4.5, but it's not an option. The food was good, don't get me wrong. I had the sausage pita. With the harrisa it was super spicy and the added veggies gave it a good amount of texture and crunch. The sausage itself, was fine, but tasted like any of the veggie sausages that you can get at a store. I was hoping for a little more. Other than that, I really like the place. The decor is fun and interesting, and there's a cozy seating area with long tables that fit 6-8 people. And yes, by cozy I mean small... BUT this is Israeli street food, so you should take it to go anyway!I do really like it and I'm looking forward to trying the falafel, and some of the other tasty sounding dishes. And I would order the sausage again, just wasn't as great as I had hoped for.I hear the burger is great. There's a video on their website of this woman raving about it. Check it out, it's what helped make up my mind about going there. Thanks Carla. And the reason for the half point deduction... There was no bathroom. Didn't hear if it was out of service or if they just didn't have one. Will update, post falafel visit.

I loved the plant based concept. It was a great place to take my vegan family. They also had numerous gluten free options available. I had a fried mushroom shawarma with a rice and lentil bowl. It was great. I loved the harissa Mayo on top.

Great place! We were looking for a lunch spot and I am so glad we stumbled over SHOUK.Pretty ambiance and very nice dining area.It was hard to choose a dish because everything on the menu sounds delicious. We decided to try the Mushroom shawarma, the dizengoff salad, spice fries and hummus.Everything was so good!! Hummus is amazing, great job.Highly recommend it

Restaurant layout was unique. Kiosks we’re simple to figure out. There were both indoor and outdoor seating options. 2 unisex bathrooms. Foods was delicious. Restaurant was clean. Bathroom was clean. Service and staffs were spot on. First time here, had a positive experience. Definitely recommend grabbing a bite here, especially if you’re looking for a non-meat option.
