I came here a couple years ago with my parents, and we stumbled in randomly a little before they opened without realizing. The owner welcomed us in with open arms. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were the best I've ever had. Additionally, the owner showed photos of the schools he funded across the world, which just showed how incredible this man is. I can't recommend this place enough and the moonshine is just an added bonus!
I love to visit small unique bars with their own different atmosphere. This was definitely one that my wife and I enjoyed.
They don’t take Amex. They use a square read that has Apple Pay capability, but he won’t let me use my Visa card on Apple Pay either.I should add, square charges the same rate for all cards.
A very welcoming atmosphere with delicious food and great service. They are a non-profit and use the money to build schools in poor countries. The live piano music is the cherry on top.
Love this place, the ambience, and the owner is a gem. Also…they have these insane brandy (or rum?) soaked blueberries that are made in-house. You. Must. Try. Them. Cheesecake will never be the same.
This bar is perfection. Not pretentious and is a nonprofit. It’s a DC institution as much as Ben’s is.
