I made an outdoor reservation for 2 on Sunday for brunch . Came in and was looking for the host or anyone to check us in. After waiting for couple of minutes, the host walked us out to our table and gave us the menu. We waited for 15 minutes and now one came to serve us!! My companion made eye contact with 3 different waiters from inside the restaurant but no one bothered to come or alert someone else to serve us. One of them actually was serving the table next to us. I could have gone inside and asked for someone to come, but after this treatment we decided it was not worth it and left without ordering. With such bad and rude service, they also will charge diners 20% service charge on top of that. Horrible!!

Lovely neighborhood spot. We went for brunch in Feb and were able to get a reservation 2 nights prior but it looked like they could take walk ins as well. They have heaters outside but still plan to wear your coat if it's under 40 degrees. French toast and shrimp and grits were delicious.

Excellent service, delicious food, and great vibes - Ronny at the bar is so kind, and the croque madame is super filling on thick crusty bread.

We came for the Primrose Burger & Frites based on reviews from Eater DC and it didn’t meet expectations. We ordered medium rare and it was served medium well. The fries were crispy and far superior to the burgers quality. We bumped up the review based on tasty appetizers and cocktails. Overall wouldn’t recommend a burger at this restaurant.

I'd been eyeing this place for a while and finally had the chance to go. Loved it!! We ate on the patio and appreciated the attention to the outside decor! The food was amazing, if filling- we had no room for dessert, unfortunately! Parking was a breeze. Really enjoyed our experience and can't wait to go again.

We celebrated our anniversary in this welcoming restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant had a neighborhood vibe but big city menu. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of French onion soup with a fantastic crust and no sogginess, steak and halibut were cooked just right. They also made sure to accommodate my allergies. Dessert was yummy to finish out the meal. Plus they offer a nice variety of tasty wines. Highly recommended and it was so relaxing.

This was a great disappointment. First the service is slow. After being seated, my guest and I were waiting 6 or 7 minutes before anyone came to the table and then we waited another 10 for our drinks to arrive. Slowness in wine and drinks was a feature of the evening, with some food arriving before the accompanying wine and the waiter at one point saying 'the bar is a little slow tonight'. My guest ordered butternut squash soup for a starter, which they thought was fine if a little cool. I had the cheese and meats board which was also fine. My main course was, however, not good. I ordered halibut which came dried out (overcooked or held too long) and on a bed of green beans that were slightly undercooked so really challenged the texture of the fish. It was topped by a mound of fennel too large for fish serving and the tomato coulis was at the bottom of the pile, a long distance from the fish. I could have done a lot better myself at home. My guest ordered the steak which they said was ok if not spectacular in any way. The one highlight was the waiter who seemed to know her way around the menu and was very knowledgeable on the wines, but the initial service and especially the drinks service were poor. Overall, the experience was at best mediocre. I shan't be coming back and I would not recommend Primrose.

My girlfriend and I went here Sunday to enjoy some time together. It was probably the most mediocre experience we've had. We were greet by three different people all asking the same questions for appetizers drinks and so forth. We had the Mac and and Cheese to start. It was ok. The bread crumbs were the best part. We later shared the pork chop. The pork chop was good but it took such a long time to come. In fact, one of the three servers asked what we ordered and we already told someone else (no one shared names). It seems like they forgot to put it in(?). We arrived at 6:53 and left around 8:20- this is all for two items and a glass of wine. Very disappointed with the experience. We also didn't like how we're forced to pay an extra 20% service charge- especially if the service wasn't good. We'll go to Brookland's Finest for a nice neighborhood restaurant next time.

We had the most amazing dinner birthday celebration for my husband. Staff was great and the food was delicious! Loved the open air seating. I Cannot say enough good things about this place. We absolutely enjoyed it and we will be back again to enjoy it during the daytime.

The food here is great, but I'm disturbed by what's going on with the bill. I'm all for guaranteeing staff receive a liveable wage above the federal minimum; however, our waiter informed us the 20% service fee is distributed among the entire staff and does not go to him and we would need to tip extra in order for him to receive his due! What on earth is that? That's a 40% tip.So if that's the case, I've never heard anything like that before in my life and it's really awful what you're doing. That's a really precarious situation your putting your wait staff in and quite exploitative to the customer and your servers. And then this poor server has to explain what's going on with he bill and hope we'll tip him. Poor guy.
