Located in a part of town I don't usually visit, I had to try Pogiboy after reading about it. I really enjoyed the Chicken Inasal bowl. The chicken was moist and the garlicky rice was delicious. The Calamansi Fresca drink was refreshing with an interesting flavor. I hope they open a second restaurant in another location.
This place is of the best creative and interesting food out there. "Jollibee on steroids," I was going to state but this place is so much more than that. I just wish I lived closer! This is the perfect day for your cheat on your diet meal. The absolute best counter service restaurant food out there. Talk to the chef if you see him. He is really something special.
Tremendously disappointing experience. The sinigang chicken sandwich tasted absolutely nothing like sinigang whatsoever. They were out of pickled jalapenos and shredduce. How do you run out of jalapenos?? They last like 17 years!! The lumpia were very meh. Do not come here!
Dined in on a Friday at 12:45 pm. It wasn't busy.Walked to the counter and stood there but did not get greeted by the cashier so I just ordered even though she was on her phone. She finally looked up and asked did I want the 3 or 6 lumpia. I looked back at the menu for a split second and she raised her voice and asked again "THREE OR SIX"???? Ok damn my bad for interrupting your phone time. RUDE.I ordered:Lechon kawali Bowl: Heaven in a bowl! The pork belly is crispy and tender melt in your mouth, egg is perfectly cooked, and the mang tom sauce that comes on the side is delicious! It harmonizes all of the flavors!Lumpiang Shanghai: the best lumpia I have ever tried. Crispy skin and moist inside. The filling was seasoned perfectly.IG: sippin_champagne_with_chelle
At first glance, Pogiboy seems like a good place to eat dinner before going out for drinks with friends. Their menu is clearly inspired by Filipino dishes that have American twists, as a Filipino myself, I came into the restaurant with high expectations. I ordered their Fiesta Spaghetti, Tocino Burger on rice, Lumpia Shanghai, and their Calamansi juice. To my surprise and disappointment, I quickly learned that the most authentically Filipino part of the food was probably the names of the dishes. The Spaghetti was overcooked and the meat sauce was bland, the Tocino burger rice bowl was underseasoned and drowning in poorly-made gravy. The snack-sized Lumpia was mostly fried skin and a measly portion of meat or ulam (as we say back home). Finally, the Calamansi juice was thankfully alright, a tad bit sweet but delicious nontheless. In summary, I personally would not return to Pogiboy as its inauthentic flavors and shallow Filipino facade make me yearn for true Pinoy food instead of satisfying my homesickness.(Dined in at Pogiboy DC on 1/13/22, review posted late)
Great fusion food with the flavors allowing you to add traditional spices “Patis, Jufran, etc.” to adjust to your liking. Very convenient to get your fix when visiting DC.
Creativity and combination of flavors is dynamite at PogiBoy! Highly recommend the To"chino" burger - I should've gotten a double patty, but that's for next time. Love how the components of that burger come together with each bite.
The fried chicken, and garlic fried rice where excellent. I truly loved the shrimp crackers. I like the banana ketchup, which I've never had before. The calamansi juice was too sour for me, even when I cut it with half a glass of water. They're no longer carrying the roasted chicken, which is what I wanted to order. Service was excellent.
the fried Chicken was really good. I liked the garlic rice too. I don't think I've ever had banana ketchup before, but it was good. even if I cut it halfway with water. the guy behind the counter was great, really awesome.
I had a terrible service experience in this restaurant and will never return!! Complain#1 I was trying to order my food , the cashier aaked me to scan the QR reader! What’s the point of hiring a cashier if she can’t do her job? Complain #2 I tied to order halo halo and they said it will take 2 hours to make it? WTF! Complain #3 The food that I ordered was cold! To the management, training your employees on customer service and food preparation are important in order for your business to survive!!
