This place has gone so downhill! The staff are disinterested and rude but there's no way to retract your tip since you have to pay up front. If they make the mistake (which they frequently do) of making 'to-go' coffees, there is no apology, just an annoyed sneer when you ask for coffees in crockery, which is part of the experience of eating in. They then don't bother to announce that the coffees have been remade (or poured from cardboard into a cup) and are now ready. Similarly, if you ask for you focaccia to be heated, it is hit and miss whether they actually bother to do it and more sneering follows. They set the music at a deafening level, stifling all conversation possibilities. This is a place where you pay a tip to serve yourself, clean up after yourself, and be treated with contempt by the staff. The only reason I keep coming is the location, the trees, the people I meet up with, and the vain hope we all hold that it will come back to it's old self at some point.
Gelato was very good. Coffee was fine. Facility was clean and comfortable. Service was unsmiling and brusk. I felt unwelcome.
I came back after a few months and the price raised from $10 (plus tax) to $14 (plus tax) a pint. That's a hugs % increase. I understand that prices go up nowadays due to ingredients, labor, and transportation but a 40% increase stopped me from buying anything. sorry. Downgrading 5 stars to 4 based on value.-------I like the pineapple sorbet and chocolate sorbet. I don't understand why you can't buy a mixed (2 flavor) pint though. The mojito sorbet is my third choice.
Nice environment to work, but expensive menu. I ordered a chai latte today and it was basically latte. They could also improve the service…even if you stay in the café, they give you a disposable container.
Ask for a small black coffee in a bigger cup filled with some cold water (for it’s always too hot to drink it right away), and you might be charged $1,10 more than the regular price , depending who will serve you. Try to explain what is wrong about it and the response is very disrespectful then. Most of the staff are nice and fair, two of them are not and turn things into a very uncivil situation. That’s a shame. When you want to be respected, respect the others, that’s always a good start.
Came here on a weekday late afternoon, grabbed a matcha latte from here with skim milk. Waited just a moment before the drink came out, but the matcha flavor wasn't very strong and it was too sweet. Drink also wasn't very hot. For a cup that was $5.50, it was expensive and quality just wasn't there. Both indoor counter seating and outdoor tables available. Vibe inside was nice though, all the tables were full when we arrived at 5PM on a Sunday but mostly empty when we left around 7PM.
Although their pastries and gelato are pretty good, the past few times I've walked in for a coffee... the main reason I would go there, I've been disappointed. I one time brought a 16oz mug, asked for a large latte almond milk (4.25 = 1.00), and all I received in my mug was a half a mugs worth (8oz). Today I just stopped by for a large almond milk latte, I asked for a biscotti (.40), got my total of 6.91, added a .75 tip. I get my coffee, and in my wonderment it was a small. Barista said the ticket said small.Lastly, its boiling hot, where it doesn't have the right taste, this happened the last two times I went in there. Lattes are supposed to be 150-165F. When its higher it generally has no flavor. And that happened again. I will not be returning here for coffee, ever again.
Here’s my “latte.” I don’t think the milk was even steamed and I opened it up to see and there are coffee grounds everywhere.
Service is awful. Ive refrained from reviewing several times, but it's just not acceptable. For a relatively high price place, in a lovely neighborhood, the staff is lazy and unapologetically rude. So much attitude, almost everytime we come. It's such a shame!!!
Good sandwich but the service was ridiculously slow. Despite 4 waiters/barista behind the counter, and being the only ones to order at that time, we had to wait 10minutes for 2 sandwiches…
