Ollies Trolley Took Away My Childhood Memory! My first experience at Ollies Trolley was at a Trolley location in Crystal City in 1974. My last experience was and will be 07/01/22 at the 425 12th St NW, Washington, DC 20004 location. I went in yesterday and shared my 1st Trolley location experience with the staff and how I got hooked on their seasoned burgers and fries. In honor of them....for the last 48 years I always added pepper to my fries as a tradition. I said I've been back every year for the past few years and look forward to a great experience again. Wrong!!!! THE FRIES CAME OUT WITH NO SEASONINGS! The burger tasted fine...but the seasonings were missing too. The burger was not a half pounder...it was a quarter pound at best! I went to the counter with the fries to let them know that the seasonings were missing. They said they were out of seasonings. I said it was wrong for them to not inform me especially after I shared with them my Ollies Trolley experience and that it was wrong to take my money for this order. I did hear them tell the next customer that they were out of seasonings and the customer of course didn't order. However, they quickly stopped telling the rest of the customers that they were out of seasonings after the loss. Guess what folks....I opened my eyes and looked at my fries again. I only saw some regular fries. I looked at my burger that was suppose to be 8 ounces but there was nothing extra special about it. I look at the line and see a ATM machine stuck 5 feet away from the register charging $1.50 to every other customer. When I originally paid cash...I see the order clerk fumbling around as if he doesn't have the right change to give back. We both look at his tip jar to make giving back change possible. I look at the grill ...not something you want to look at a second time as a customer. Finally, I sit at the table and take a look around. Cool looking at all the neat stuff...but also realize that the place kinda smells and really is NOT that sanitary!!!! Just think....my childhood memory was destroyed and my eyes were opened as to what Ollies Trolley is really about today. Itvall started from the order clerk unshamefully taking my money and not telling the truth that they were out of the 25 seasonings magic that made Ollies Trolley famous. To be honest...I'm sooooo mad about this!!!

Ollie himself takes your order! Not the most personable guy but he's old and probably tired of everyone's $#[email protected] The food is absolutely delicious! We came yesterday for the 1st time and it was so good, we came back today. The fries are probably the best I've ever had. Try it...you won't be disappointed!!
The Ollieburger and french fries were great! Old fashioned style, and all the place looks very retro. I'm giving it 4 stars because they only take cash, however, they have ATMs inside the place in case you didn't bring any cash with you. Highly recommended! They also have a veggie burgers.
It was very busy at the time I went but they handled it well. The cheesesteak was delicious, burger was very medium rare,jeep in mind the sign states that is how they cook it unless specifically different. Yes this is cash only, but there is and ATM. The prices are so reasonable especially for location!! Great amount of food too. 2 people could split the cheese steak and fries. I loved it.

Went during our visit to Washington DC, my husband wanted to try it as he had been to an Ollie’s Trolley when he was a child. Bizarre experience. Dirty for sure, complete silence with a dining room full of people waiting for their food, no smiles - NOTHING! Something out of a dark comedy sketch. Waited 1:15 for 2 Half smokes and the Ollie Burger that was not even seared, cold, cheese not even melted. Oh and they only accept cash and no refunds!. Hope we don’t get sick!
I wish I could tell you how the food tasted. We never got that far. My husband ordered $42.00 worth of food but our daughter was so grossed out when she saw the grill, we tried to get a refund but couldn't so we left. I went to a table to make sure we had a place to eat and had to use hand sanitizer and a kleenex to clean the table off. The kleenex was black when I was done. There is NO WAY you can eat at this restaurant and not have gastrointestinal problems later. DO NOT EAT HERE.
Yep, cash only. Don't assume they have everything listed on the menu. (No crab cakes, rootbeer or bacon tonight.) Service started out not terribly friendly, but warmed up a bit by the end. We waited about 15 minutes for an order of 2 fish sandwiches, a veggie burger, 3 pops, and an order of fries. The food was very good, and a good amount, too, one fish fillet was split onto 2 buns.
