Super friendly owner made super my order was made with gluten-free sauce, food arrived hot and super fast, the Singapore noodles and Mongolian beef were amazing.
Mr. Chen’s, in my opinion, is resting on its laurels. The food was not good or authentic and was ridiculously expensive. I was terribly disappointed in the quality. I later tried Peking Gardens on 18th Street NW in DuPont and the food was Excellent, priced appropriately and fresh! They also deliver so you can avoid steep delivery fees and add-one charges by delivery apps.Skip Mr. Chen’s and go with the great tasting Peking Gardens.
The food is good - no problems here. Their customer service skills could be improved, however. Ordered two entrees online from their official website's menu (not the google menu). The menu listed each as $14. I got there and the total was much higher than I expected; I asked why and the woman at the register told me the prices. I said that was much higher than what was listed online. She said that what I ordered from was a "google menu" and that it was google's fault. I showed her the menu I ordered from (on the Mr. Chen's official website) and she still said it was "google's fault" and that they changed their prices two years ago. This is not google's fault - this is the menu listed on your own website. Please update the prices to reflect current prices. No apology from them, just discounting my legitimate issue. I should've received an apology at the very least, and a restaurant with good customer service would've had me pay the price listed online. This is bad customer service.
My partner and I love Mr. Chen’s. The food is delicious and the employees have always been very kind. We have been ordering from them for a while now and it never disappoints.
They’re doing take-out/delivery only right now due to Covid which I appreciate. Reliable, fresh, American Chinese food, long-time family-owned restaurant in the DMV.
Their staff weren’t masking, not even hand sanitizer available. Not sure if they’re vaccinated. Only order take-out/delivery, not safe for dining in.
What a delight! Ordered take out on a whim and was impressed with the high quality and taste of what I ordered. Everything was tasty. Enjoyed Crab Rangoons, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Wonton Soup, and General Tso’s Chicken. One can not go wrong on anything ordered from this restaurant.
Horrible customer service. After placing a delivery order via toast the restaurant waited an hour to call me and tell they won't bring my food because I am too far. Don't waste your time with this place.
Food taste fresh but is not cheap for a takeout place.
