Lechón asado
LOVED THIS PLACE! Came here for dinner Friday—called ahead to make a reservation which was good because the place is small and most of the tables were occupied by the dinner rush. The food was delicious! The Beef Empanadas were a great appetizer. Friday’s special was the Ropa Vieja—it was well flavored and comes with two sides. The Lechon Asado was great too! For drinks, the Traditional Mojitos were legit, they even have sugarcane in their drinks—one of the best mojitos I’ve ever had!
food is good, friendly as far as i can tell for pick up/carry out. call them to order take out, ordering in the apps seems to be a lot pricier. they have some nice walls up for their separate carry out door that helps distance you from those dining in.
Cute spot with great food. Don't out on the great coffee or strong drinks. Staff if super nice. Ordered the chicken with cheese and the Cubano. Both were great.
Incomparable flavors and amazing staff!I had long wanted to try out the restaurants on this often overlooked strip in Columbia Heights. Finally made the trip and it sure worth it! The staff helped me pick which entree to get and even brought second helpings of butter fried Cuban bread which was delicious.I ordered the Vaca Frita. Even before eating, I could smell the deliciousness when my food arrived. It had crunch, tenderness and packed with flavor. Boxed the leftovers for the second meal. Will certainly visit here again!
Delicious empanadas and croquettes, with strong and flavorful coffee! Friendly and welcoming staff and service with lovely decorations and very authentic Cuban food, love this spot!
Ordered the Lechon Asado and enjoyed it!The server was very proactive and nice, handed out the free bread that was buttery and delicious. The meal itself was also enjoyable and filling.Looking at the old pictures here of the menus, we thought it was still going to be the same price for the meal but it is now higher. Completely understandable but it came as a shock. I personally don’t think it should be high as it is since you’d be left thinking if it was worthwhile. Not a good feeling, and the feelings itself should not be there while trying to enjoy your meals.
Wow! Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent ambiance. I had to select a restaurant for dinner prior to a show at the Gala Hispanic Theatre. I had several choices for my husband, son and I. We are global travelers and have eaten all over the world. I am SO glad I choose Mi Cuba Cafe! We had cocktails (mojitos), appetizers (empanadas and croquettes), entrees (Shredded Beef, Cuban sandwich, chicken soup w/ black beans and rice) and dessert (flan) plus Cuban coffee. We were all very happy! Total for 3 people was $156.00. The bill included well-deserved 15% for service. We sat upstairs and it was lovely!
First time here and couldn’t have enjoyed my experience better! From the service, the music and the amazing food!! Totally recommend this place! Can’t wait to be back
