My fiancé and I went out to Mandu for date night and truly enjoyed it. I thought the ambiance was nice but I had a false perspective of what my experience would be like. The KFC Wings were good. My fiancé and truly enjoyed our food. This restaurants was list as number 1 from 2 other Korean restaurants in dc. Although I enjoyed it I do not think itâs better than Anjufrc. The restaurant setting/decor plays into my opinion.
Hi! I enjoy eating at Mandu, but I wanted to share one thing about my experience that will hopefully help staff and other diners. When I visited in early Aug 2022, I found the restaurant's COVID protocols to be inconsistent. The website and signage around the restaurant asks diners to wear masks while not eating, but the staff is mask-free. Also, the website says outdoor and indoor dining is available, and to specify what option you'd like when you make a rsvp. Open Table does not give diners an option to choose an indoor or outdoor table, but I requested an outdoor table in the additional notes section only to find that outdoor dining was not set up for the night I visited. The unmasked/no outdoor option is not all that different from what I imagine other restaurants are doing these days, but the mixed messaging is challenging for diners who are trying to gauge the level of risk of dining out at Mandu. Thank you for a delicious meal and I hope this helps.
Best Korean Fried Chicken I have ever had!!!
Food and service were great, one star knocked off because it felt like the AC wasnât working, so the restaurant was stuffy.
Coaches look like they need to be replaced, that was an initial turn off. Food was decent but ambiance and quality of interior design could be improved
We were a little concerned upon entering the restaurant which is in need of an update, but the food was truly incredible. We started with the mandu (2 of each type, steamed). They were decent, but not stellar. Next was the highlight of the night: the KFC. These were probably the best chicken wings weâve ever had anywhere, anytime. They are an absolute must-order at Mandu and we might consider returning just for the wings. We were speechless. In between our starters and our entree, they brought out some banchan (extras included with purchase of entree). The spicy pickled cucumbers were our favorite. For our main course we had the Duru Jjigee. Also delicious, the rice cakes reminded us of gnocchi and the pork belly was also very good. We were worried that our main would fall flat coming right after the KFC, but it held its own. We ended the night with the twisted doughnut which was the perfect size for two. Very fluffy and the seasonal fruit compote paired very well. Overall, Mandu is an excellent food spot, but donât expect high-level service or ambience.
First and last visit. Ordered the veggie japchae and found it to be bland. I normally have at least three servings of it when I order it at other restaurants...it was barely one serving there. But, I still left a 20% tip...and someone there increased the tip amount by $1.00. Like Really! I had my copy of the receipt and I wrote down exactly how much I tipped them and what the total charge to my account should have been. I hope it was just an error...but I certainly will not be returning.
Love Mandu. The food is absolutely amazing and the signature cocktails are fun and different
Great food, very vegetarian friendly. It is super a really chill place to grab dinner.
Amazing food. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather
