Not even close to a Mexican restaurant.If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, do not cone here.Dirty toilets.Canned beans and instant rise with store tortillas are not Mexican food.Staff was kind, always asking if everything was ok, they were! But the food wasn’t.Also, it is expensive!
Overall, I cannot say this is a favorite. The chips, salsa and margarita were good, and the flan was excellent. The main course was less than par for me. The chimichanga was barely fried, the chicken was just ok, and the rice and beans were not tasty. The service was friendly.

My fiancé and I came here on a whim for dinner since we only live a few blocks away. Huge servings (saved half for lunch then next day). The margaritas were delicious and we especially loved the nachos al carbon appetizer. What made the experience extra special was the staff, who were all so friendly!

La Lomita is somewhere we have been visiting for years. We were introduced to it by friends who had been frequenting there for decades. Their comment was that it seemed so friendly the first time they stepped in, with everyone in the restaurant loudly greeting them-then after a pitcher of margaritas they were the same way. They realized the margaritas were so good, everyone in the restaurant was tipsy.The drinks remain good at La Lomita. The food has always been good, but nothing astounding. It has a nice environment that makes you feel like you have traveled outside of DC inside, an outdoor patio with good seating, and, at least used to have, live music. It is not Americanized to where everything has copious amounts of cheese and occasionally you want more salt or sauce.The salsa is fresh and good. You don't have to order chips, they give them to you. The staff is friendly and on top of things. The owners are the kind of people you can get to know by frequenting. And, did I mention, the drinks are pretty good, especially the margaritas. Great place to hang out with friends or have a family dinner.
Stopped in on the way home. Very good Mex food & drinks. Just one slight (-) .,... they didn't have Soppapias for dessert. If in DC again would definitely stop by again.
