I am not one to give five stars to many restaurants, but I can confidently say that Imperfecto is in the top 3 restaurants I have been to in my life. Firstly, the atmosphere is great- lovely design, lighting, location. Secondly, the service is great and the waiters aren’t too on top of your meal but do a great and professional job. Mostly importantly, the food is some of the best food i’ve had in my life. If you go, you MUST get the zucchini soup. I would order gallons of that soup if I could. The mocktails are all stellar. The pasta with truffle is delicious and great portion. I dislike lamb, but those lamb cigars were the best meat I’ve ever had. I really recommend those- they also pair so nicely with the sauce. This restaurant is a must-try and top tier of DC. Also, the prices are so good considering the extremely high quality of food.
Wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend.
I have to give this place a 5 star review! My husband I had just gotten married and our friends wanted to take us out. From the moment we walked in the ambiance to the aroma of food cooking, I couldn’t wait to have a bite. This spot is very intimate and your server will be sure you feel as though you are the only one.You also have the opportunity to look into the kitchen where your plates are being prepared. Every course was delicious and paired well with our cocktails.I can’t wait to come back!
My 140th Michelin starred experience. The food here is a 5, the setting is a 5, the service is a 5! There is SO much to like about Imperfecto, yet the painful truth is I would never come back for brunch. Why? Because the prices aren't worth it. $150 (incl tax and tip) for 2 for an avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, and 2 desserts just can't be justified. If these were adorned with caviar, foie gras, uni, truffles... you know, the really expensive ingredients you would find at even more expensive Michelins/tasting menus... then yea perhaps. But Imperfecto's aren't, and though the avocado toast as an example is fantastic, it's not a $28 ($36 incl tax and tip) course. Course reviews below:1) The Spanish Sandwich (5/5) - If I don't think about the price ($32), it's freaking delicious! Perfectly cooked baguette that is soft and crunchy and contrasts perfectly w/the chewy ham yums! I wish this had wayyy more foie gras torchon and truffle oil though, as I barely tasted either, and if it did, maybe the price would be justified.2) Avocado Toast (5/5) - Probably the best avo toast I've ever had! On focaccia too and w/octopus slivers! Again though, even though it's the best, those few slivers of octopus don't make this a $28 toast compared to numerous other places in the DMV that serve delicious toasts for $8-$13.3) Mango Tart (4/5) - Loveddd the fresh mango on top though the core was not sweet or tart enough and ultimately unmemorable.4) Ricotta Creme Brulee (4/5) - Yesss to how much the top resembled glass that was fun to crack and even more fun to eat! The ricotta taste wasn't bold enough though, and neither was the accompanying sorbet. To be clear, I am not critiquing prices that are high generally (again this is Michelin #140 and I have no issue paying $400 on an epic meal). I am saying that what Imperfecto offers should not be as expensive as it is considering the ingredients and comparative taste/value vs. other restos. If they knocked the price for everything down $5-10, I feel like more ppl would venture here (for a Sunday brunch, 90% of the tables were empty), and I wish they did because the food is really stellar!
Absolutely delightful brunch in the city. Beautiful setting and excellent service. Remember to order the Middle East Stuffed Sourdough.Highly recommended.
We have been to Imperfecto over 5 times. It consistently has great food, wonderful service, a nice atmosphere and a interesting wine list if you delve into it with Raquel. Yes, it’s expensive but that’s the price in DC of this type of experience. We will continue to go back as we totally enjoy our dining experience here. Recommended dishes include the Burrata, Mousaka cigar, Parmesan cauliflower (yes, that’s what it is), the duck, the shrimp and the risotto.
This restaurant is by far the best food, atmosphere and service I’ve found in Washington DC. I highly suggest the Burrata and Honey I’m Home cocktail but you can’t go wrong here. Looking forward to returning many more times!
The meal was okay. For the ratings and press this restaurant has received, I was expecting (for lack of a better word) perfection. I need to caveat this review because I have a severe allergy (requiring an EpiPen) that I *assumed* could be accommodated. Still, the chef gave me four options from the menu that they would remove elements from and not enhance in any way to make my experience as great as others. I completely respect and honor maintaining the integratory of recipes a chef labors over to make perfect. Still, the lack of flexibility in this day and age for a severe allergy makes one question the route of this personality trait- perhaps it is a lack of impromptu skill, arrogance, or absence of confidence. The one dish that I consumed that remained unchanged (salmon tartare) was well composed with some surprising pops of flavor. I will leave the review here because I do not think the rest of the courses were complete flavor compositions- there were missing elements of acid and sauces that could have been simply compensated.
We had brunch here today and overall, if was quite good and worth returning to.They have a limited but creative menu, but don't bother asking if they can do anything off menu for kids (it was a firm "No."). We ended up ordering our daughter the brioche with gianduja chocolate and orange custard and it was thankfully a heavenly proxy for a kid's brunch entree. As for mine, I had the fried chicken with corn pancakes. The chicken was a bit dry as were the pancakes but the peppery guajillo sauce generally remedied that but not quite. My wife's cauliflower and asparagus salad was quite flavorful and the tangerine dressing was a nice accent. So ultimately an imperfect meal at Imperfecto but still worth it overall and justified a return visit in the future.
We were invited by a great friend to the chef’s table tasting menu. To make a long story short I would rate this place three stars. The food was a four, but due to the noise level and insane drink prices I would knock the overall rating down to a three. The good: This is a beautiful restaurant with a large and very professional staff. All in the menu was about 12 courses, of which I would rate 6 at a 5 star level, with the best being a vegetable dish with white asparagus and trout roe. A few other fish dishes were also standouts. The duck w fois gras was also good. The bad: A few of the dishes were duds, the most disappointing being the wagyu steak, which is the last dish before dessert. It was fatty, had no taste, was overwhelmed by the sauce and was extremely salty. Another dish that wasn’t a hit was a plate of very small baby calamari, it had an over huge garlic presence. Desserts were meh. The ugly: The noise level is intense and, in my view, completely inappropriate for a restaurant that is this expensive. My other gripe is the alcohol prices. Wine by the glass seems to be about a 5 times markup and then they added a 22% tip and some other fee pulled out of thin air. So all in with taxes 5 glasses of their less expensive wines plus two champagne cocktails came to $209 all in! While the food is expensive I think there is much great value in the food prices than the inflated drink prices.
