For DC this is four star Texas style bbq. Anywhere else three stars. The meat has flavor which is good, the problem is the way it is cooked and what is served. The person who packed our order really messed things up too.The bbq sauce caps were not put on and it soaked the bag and made a mess. They also did not include the baked beans, but that’s ok sometimes you forget food. The real issue is the actual food. The pork belly bites were just fat, no actual meat or bacon. We threw them out after trying them because there was literally just fat. The burnt ends had flavor but were so burnt they could barely be cut with our steak knives. I chopped them with a butcher knife. I’m guessing they overbooked everything yesterday because the brisket was also over done and had zero smoke ring. It was moist but very over cooked. If it was done properly it would have been melt in your mouth delicious. It was likely a very off day.The corn bread was perfection and the pulled pork was as expected. DC does not have good bbq, so if you’re craving Texas style bbq, Fat Pete’s is your best bet and to be honest, you won’t be disappointed. Once they figure out temperatures and when meat is done, they’re going to be amazing. The seasoning and flavor are there, it’s not learning meats, what to serve vs discard and when to stop cooking it.Ohh the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were perfect. I loved them!!! Nicely done.

Stopped in on a Saturday night, not too busy. Server was good and helped us navigate the menu. Overall, good bbq place, we shared a ribs/smoked Turkey combo platter. Both good option. The ribs were very tender. Turkey was good, but if I had one complaint would be to use more rub on the Turkey. Sauces were great; at least the two I tried: the sweet Memphis and the spicy KC. Sides of Mac-n-cheese and cornbread were great. Would recommend.

Fat Pete is a whisky encyclopedia. Seriously you come here for the BBQ (which is itself pretty good especially for DC) but you stay for this man's sage-like knowledge of all things whisky, bourbon, scotch, blends, etc. We had so much fun getting Pete's recommendations, trying samples, and just indulging in the love of whisky. Oh yea and of course he serves up a pretty good BBQ as well. Will absolutely be coming again soon!

Amazing! We stopped in for lunch after visiting the zoo. Immediately welcomed by PJ. It was pretty busy and my boyfriend and I grabbed a couple seats at the bar. I got the Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese and he got the Brisket platter. Both were SO good, juicy and tender. I really can’t decide if the food or customer service was better. Wish I lived here so I could come in everyday.

I never write reviews but I’m so upset. I order from their food truck-1 meat 2 sides plate. The pork was cold, 1 tiny thing of BBQ sauce and for the price of $19 dollars there was hardly any pork and as you can see from the picture a giant piece of burnt meat. The sides was barley 1 scoop. Don’t go here unless you want to waste your money!

On a trip to DC we wanted a traditional bbq meal. We got just what we hoped for. Delicious food. Great cocktails. Excellent service in a fab atmosphere.

Very nice place for BBQ ??. A bit dark for me during rhe day. A full wall of TVs ( baseball, indy car , English’s premiere league) on the walls. Wide range of beers and even choice for wines ?. Waiter pleasant and checking everythig was ok. Parking not so easy ?️. Need to say i do not know well the neighborhood.

Please tip your delivery service drivers from this location. They have a "greater than you" attitude here. I could explain my story, but just know that I have a real one. They are visually biased to their patrons (read that between the lines).I will never work with, for or spend a dime at this place.

Thank God was given a gift card to cover my lunch. I was in the mood for BBQ, and wanted to try somewhere new. I partially regret it. Although the delivery was prompt, what I received was unacceptable for the price spent ($16.00) for this chopped brisket sandwich (even though it was tasty) and $5.25 for the mac & cheese (which was pretty good and rightly priced). I'm lucky if there was 3 full tablespoons of meat on here. Look for yourself. I don't mind paying for a good sandwich, but the price didn't justify it.

I ordered the ribs, greens and Mac & cheese. Every bit of it was horrible. The ribs were w half cooked. The greens had so much vinegar on them you couldn't eat any of it the max taste as if it was prepared with power generic cheese.the hush puppies had some sort of garlic pasta inside of them ( never indicated on the menu. The corn bread was burnt on top and bottom. My daughter and I tossed it out. I do not plan to ever go there. Inot to mention we were visiting DC.I would think 5 or 6 times before I would go back there. I wish whomever eat there the best. Don't complain because you have been warned...
