Myself and one other person shared the Family Meat and Veggies Special. It came with 4 meat items (pre-set) and 4 veggies options of your choosing. It could definitely feed 3-4 people. One of the meat items had lamb which we don't like, but we were able to substitute in another veggie option. Everything was delicious! Once we ordered, the food came out quickly. We also ordered hot tea after the meal. The service was great. The servers were super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. All of the seating is inside. It's a smaller place, but they do a great job of getting people in as quickly as possible without rushing those who are there.

An absolutely fabulous dining experience. The food was so tasty and the service was exceptional. The staff and owner came by regularly to make sure we were well attended to. We felt the portion and prices were very good for the D.C. area. I recommend the veggie and meat sharable platter. Make sure to leave room for some of the mesmerizing Ethiopian coffee.

First time eating Ethiopian cuisine. My daughter and I love the food. The red spicy chicken reminds me of Indonesian chicken rendang. The beef cube was flavorful. The vegetables were all tasty. They remind me of Indian vegetables. Awesome dark coffee served with smoky incense burnt on a hot coal instead of candle. Great experience!

Amazing service and food at Family Ethiopian Restaurant! It is quite an experience as a their meals are not enjoyed with utensils, rather with bread that you grab the protein and vegetables with. The staff was amazing and I highly recommend Family Ethiopian Resturant!

Their platters are large enough to feed 2-3 persons so if you're with someone, I would recommend you order that to sample what's available. The restaurant is family owned and they make you feel at home. The server asked patrons in the restaurant if they had Ethiopian food before which I thought was a nice gesture to help guests try new foods. The food itself was delicious, definitely a fan of the injera bread (slightly sour and fluffy bread as it is a fermented food). Would revisit this place in the future.

My first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. Loved the unique spice flavors. Recommended to go with at-least 2 people to share the items.Had the spicy beef tibs and spicy lentils. I am comparing it to Indian food to have a reference. The spicy beef tibs looked similar to Indian food but the flavor profile is very different. The spice level is moderate and not super spicy. The spicy lentil tasted very good but felt a bit like a soup. The injera or the bread is a bit like savory pancake. The atmosphere is also very inviting with a nice spice smell inside the restaurant.Overall, a very interesting place to try. People who love spices will love this place.

Hands. Down. Best. Ethiopian. Food. Ever! Food is aromatic and will make you salivate upon entry! It was such a pleasure to be served by the talented Chef Seferash! She was extremely hospitable and kind, despite being short-staffed. If you’re in DC, you MUST visit this place! We ordered the Family Meat & Veggie Combo, Veggie Spring Rolls, and Fosolia. Stop by and see what you’re missing!

The food was amazing, the service was very nice. Highly recommended!

Delicious Ethiopian food at an extremely affordable price, cannot recommend it enough! As the name suggests, it is family owned, which contributes to the place’s homely feeling. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, the waiter guided us through it and absolutely loved everything we tried - especially recommend the mixed meat dish, ideal for sharing.

Amazing food and dining experience! Very homely restaurant and the staff were very kind! Tried the honey wine and was in love; also would recommend the family special to share with another. Would return again if possible!
