We were disappointed with the father' day brunch. We ate from the hot bar -- that's all they had. Too much salt and oil and an odd seasoning I couldn't identify. If you don't really enjoy vegan food and miss your chicken, they try to make drumsticks and fillets that look like chicken, but the texture & flavors are quite different. I would rather have a healthy, good-tasting dish with black beans, sweet potatoes, and walnuts, than something that looks like chicken, but isn't tasty. Everyone at the table agreed that they have had much better vegan food. The coconut gelato was the best option I tried. It was excellent!

Delicious, vegan, and kosher - what more could you want!? Drove 11 hours from Chicago and this was our first stop!!

I don’t know what happened to this place they really changed for the worse the food doesn’t even taste the same anymore … the guy who served me don’t even know the difference between the drummies & claim that the ones he gave me were Maple Drummies when they wasn’t…. I told him I was just there yesterday & it didn’t taste the same AT ALL! Plus it was a bit Burnt! This the second time ‘my order was messed up & had to turn around. This used to be my favorite place now it’s just not the same what happened to The Old Team? NuVegan is a bit more but I’ll just be going to them when I want some Vegan Soul Food. ELife in Capitol Heights is Better than this one smh too… Also it’s like they don’t season the food here.

The food was really really good and had flavor. The young man that worked that day was great and explained how the menu changes daily which I thought was nice and made it food feel more homemade, but he just had a good vibe about himself in general which is always nice to encounter when visiting a spot for the first time. My daughter and I enjoyed our meal at a table and afterwards had RIDICULOUSLY good vegan lemon cake and vegan chocolate brownie cake with walnuts for dessert. I found a new brand of drink I'm going to try to find thanks to ELife so all in all a great experience and I highly recommend Vegans, Vegetarians and Non vegans and non vegetarians pay ELife a visit. A new favorite for me for sure. They have carryout and delivery as well which is dope but I'm in VA.

Although the food was tasty, the presentation wasn’t good. I drove about 45 minutes to check this place out and got there around 6:30pm. When we saw the hot bar everything looked like it had been sitting out all day and pretty dry. I, being a shy and polite person, mustered up the boldness to ask how long it had been sitting out and found out it had been sitting out since 11:30am. Since I drove so far, I went ahead and ordered. My suggestion would then be to have a manager monitoring the hot bar regularly and replacing the dishes out with fresh food.

As someone who worked here although briefly I suggest you take my word when I rate this place 1 star. I won't go into the details just know that I no longer eat there. I was never a fan of 'vegan soul food' and just because it is vegan does Not mean it is healthy. The food was always too oily, too salty or way too sweet for me.

I stopped by there a few months back. Food was amazing. Good staff. Good service even though the dining area was closed due to Covid restrictions. I would've never imagined vegan food could taste this good.

The food was delicious and the customer experience was outstanding..

Love that EL shares healthier options to the community. And those options are so delicious!!

Their website says “please feel free to call in to confirm whats on the menu for the day” but I called in and asked whats on the menu and the man who answered hung up on me, I assume because he did not want to read off the entire menu but they shouldn’t advertise that it’s okay to call in and ask if their staff is not willing to take the time to provide the information. Horrible customer service.
