Margaritas and food are delicious. I recommend the Thai Shrimp Taco. I took off a star because of how expensive it has gotten. Got my check yesterday and a crazy service charge had been added on top of the total and tax. And then they include a "suggested gratuity" after changing roughly 15% for their random service charge (for a table of 2). Seemed sus.

If you’re an international individual don’t come to this establishment. You will definitely notice the difference in treatment between internationals and Americans. Every time I come it’s the same thing at the door, they try to tell me my international ID is fake, even when I show them that this is what the ID looks like on the government’s website. This happens to all my international friends as well. So if you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen in America definitely come to El Rey.
Great place to grab frozen margaritas and some great tacos after work. Great service from a super friendly staff makes coming here for a happy hour a fantastic experience. Just a quick heads up that half of the space is technically outside, so if you come in the winter time, definitely dress with a few layers. Also try the DC taco, it's just like a hot wing in a tortilla. 10/10

We went for Happy Hour and were not disappointed. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend El Rey! It's definitely the king of the city!
Maddy is the best! If you come please ask for her. She gives great recommendation. Considering it was my first time she took her time suggesting delicious dishes and all in all THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!
Very busy and friendly establishment. Great music, food, and prices. The margaritas were amazing and the food was quite tasty. We sat at the bar, bartenders and staff were very accomdating! If your looking for a easy going restaurant/bar with good vibes this is the place, highly recommend.
I was there with a great date. Place was super packed. Music was great, drinks were okay but the server didn't give me the right beer. I asked for the summer ale and got something else. Service was slow, felt like they didn't have enough people working. I guess it's the pandemic.
Get the birria quesadilla and any of the margs.
