The quality of the food has gone down. Brussel sprouts were over cooked. Drunken noodles are comparable to any Thai restaurant so the price is a bit too much. I was also rudely told by the hostess that I needed to clear the table and move to the bar since we had occupied the table for two hours despite the fact that we had been eating and ordering food and were paying for it.
I really enjoyed my experience here. Had the spring rolls as the first appetizer and they had a great crunch and the contents were tasty, even though I prefer a sweeter dipping sauce. The crispy chicken wings were fried so well, no complaints. The beef in the beef platter was so juicy, the sauce on top was flavorful and it had a chewier consistency. Person I was with loved the stir fried rice noodle as well. The $7 dragonfruit daiquiri was good as well. Would def come back
First of all, the brunch drinks are strong in a good way! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and our server, Mariah L., was exceptional. She got thrown onto the patio on a busy Sunday but she took it in stride. We enjoyed ourselves so much we forgot our food, which means we have to come back :) there are plenty of vegan and veggie options (the veggie steamed dumplings were hitting). Highly recommend!
Yesterday my boyfriend and I went here and everything was great. For drinks we ordered the electric kiss, a little too sweet but tasty. For apps we ordered the pork steamed dumplings and fried beef jerky. 10/10. For entrees we ordered Seafood curry and Shaken Beef. Seafood curry was to die for and wasn’t not coconut based which made it better because I am not a fan of coconut curry or coconut anything. I definitely recommend this place.
I hold this place in such high regard, but unfortunately I just had a terrible experience. Long story short, my partner and I made reservations for 4:45pm today and were asked to leave/give up our table at exactly 5:58pm... 73 minutes later. After being informed of this news, the table host told us that the table was double-booked without offering us other table options so that we could continue to enjoy our delicious drinks and meal. When inquiring about why we weren't informed of a "time-limit," the host gave us a shrug and walked away. Our actual server was great and offered steady, intentional service. The thing is, I would've had no issue with a double-booked table so long as they inform us beforehand. I can understand a table time limit of 2+ hours before being asked to leave. I could also understand a table time limit of 1.5+ hours before being asked to leave. But 73 minutes, without warning and no initial offer of an accommodation, is just plain ridiculous. As a repeat customer of this restaurant, it is really disappointing that we received this level of service and even more frustrating that very little effort was made to lead with a little EQ and true effort in trying to resolve this matter and make it right. Instead, we were made to feel like our business wasn't honored and welcomed. At the end of the day, somebody, somewhere, someplace will get the short end of the stick regarding customer service and it is sad that it was our turn at one of our favorite D.C. hangouts and eateries. I hope no one else experiences this kind of treatment and @doimoi please do better.
I had a drink at the bar while I was waiting for my take-out. The place was packed with young people, mostly on dates. The staff is very friendly and it's a cute place. Not fancy and reasonably priced. But the food was a winner! We took the chicken plate and two other appetizers (dumplings). First of all, this was dinner and lunch for us because the portions are big. Secondly, that might have been the best chicken I had in DC.
We wandered on this place by mistake New Year’s Day and were pleasantly surprised! Their brunch had a variety of unique choices and the overall was vibe is fun and upbeat! I highly recommend this restaurant/ bar!
We came to Doi Moi for brunch and holy cow it did not disappoint. My honey ordered the Lemon grass chicken bowl and I ordered the brunch bahn bao and we split three daiquiris (dragon fruit, lime, and passion fruit) for $7 each and they were also DELICIOUS. All of our meal came to the reasonable price of $50. I feel like the price and service were of the best in DC. Our waitress, Gianny was such a great host and so thoughtful of our needs. She has regulars now in us! She never had us waiting for anything, always topped us off and had the warmest glow about her. Gianny you deserve the world baby- doi moi is lucky to have you!
Delicious Vietnamese food, great joyful ambience with unbeatable happy hour. Different flavor Daiquiris for $7.
I liked the atmosphere, and had been wanting to go for a while now. Food was great, but service was very subpar. Server didn't check up on us once, and I had to flag him down multiple times for water/check/etc.Noodles were amazinggg, but the baos were kind of hard (and served with ketchup?? lol)
