We went here for brunch and it was a nice time! The variety of drinks for the bottomless brunch cocktails was fun to try all the flavors they offered. They had gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free options. The drunks noodles with tofu was pretty good! The service was good too. Overall, I don't think I'd come back but I won't discourage others from giving it a try!
I love this place! District has been and continues to be an amazing home for me. I’ve lived here for 4 years and although a lot has changed in my life and the world in that time, the service and comfort I’ve had here has remained completely consistent. I feel so at home here and could not recommend District enough. I consider myself an expert in the building—having lived in a studio, one bedroom, and now one bedroom-den, I can confidently say how fantastic the facilities are from floor to floor and amongst all apartment types. And have you seen the roof?! Amazing sunsets and places to gather. If you’re trying to find the right place to live, look no further, this is it!
I adore living at the District! The entire management team is so kind and helpful, and the facilities are always clean. 10/10!
The District is probably one of the best apartment living situations to have in DC. Location is awesome because you have the best restaurants and bars at your feet on the coolest street of DC with extraordinary history/culture. Plus, a Trader Joes and CVS down the street. The area is lively, and you feel like you're constantly in the excitement of where it's all at. While some nights are hard to sleep because of the noise, you get used to it. Maybe it's also because I live closer to the ground floor. Plus, getting an eye mask, ear buds and blackout curtains helps a lot. The front desk is manned by the best people who make your stay not only comfortable but also make you feel safe. Shout-out to Ellen, Melvin, Brittney and Ms. Robinette for always making The District feel like home. Also, shout-out to Brooke and Melty for working behind the scenes to make District the incredible apartment stay that it is. The amenities are great for the price of rent, including a washer/dryer in your unit, a gym, a beautiful/expansive rooftop, Amazon hub and more. Having only lived here for 7 months, The District has become a real home. I've talked to so many District residents who said even when they thought to move out, they eventually stayed or came back to The District. It's a gem. If you're looking for a place to stay, come to The District. They also give out free food and drinks occasionally. There are also so many dogs in this building, which is the BEST part, so if you want dogs in your life, live at The District.
The quality of the food has gone down. Brussel sprouts were over cooked. Drunken noodles are comparable to any Thai restaurant so the price is a bit too much. I was also rudely told by the hostess that I needed to clear the table and move to the bar since we had occupied the table for two hours despite the fact that we had been eating and ordering food and were paying for it.
I noticed this place was packed on a Friday night so I made a reservation for a few days later. The service is on point and the staff friendly. I ordered a beef dish with side of Brussel sprouts. The food is excellent. Outside seating is lively as you’re right on 14th Street.
We enjoyed a light dinner here at Doi Moi on the outside tables. Lively ambiance sitting on U street on picnic tables. Simple menu of one page with good classics of Vietnamese street food. The grilled fish was good but not much flavor. The fried pork rolls were excellent and moist. The noodles were over done. Mango sticky rice was disappointing. Overall, good experience but surprised at total of $80 wnd then $100 with tip. For this type of food and ambiance, I don't see value for money.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance! A touch spicy but all delicious. Service was amazing. Food exceeded our expectations. My 10-year old was very impressed, as was I. We will be back!
My wife and I had dinner at Doi Moi yesterday. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees and dessert. I was surprised to see that dessert was delivered first. We enjoyed the mango and coconut milk. Then my wife’s entree arrived. She had the shaken beef which she enjoyed immensely. Then a bit later my entree was served. I had the chicken cooked with lemongrass. It was tasty. However the chicken was on the bone, which was unusual, and difficult to eat without picking it up by hand. Working backwards I waited for our appetizer. It never came which was fine because I was full I had ordered iced Vietnamese coffee. Our waitress said that iced drinks were not available. Strange because there was plenty of ice at the bar. I did get the egg cream coffee, served warm, which was a delicious substitute.
Moving into the District was the best decision. Chidozie and Ellen have made me (and my dog!) feel so at home. My apartment is great and very quiet despite the location right on 14th. The roof lives up to the pictures and I’ve actually found myself taking advantage of it a lot because it isn’t too busy. I’d also add that the location can’t be beat for any pet owner. You are just a few blocks from the S Street Dog Park and the last walk before bed is super easy with all the green space on the block. I’ve lived in other buildings in the city and have never had such a great experience.
