We had to wait 45 min to get our order. After the first 30 min of waiting I went to find out what is going on, only to realize that they had forgotten about it. We had ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese (not even toasted), oatmeal, scrambled eggs with bacon and latte coffee. Instead, they brought us a bagel with sesame seeds and butter, scrambled WITHOUT bacon, and NO latte. They said they could not give us a plain bagel because they were frozen! How do you call yourself a BAKERY when you serve prepacked frozen bagels?! I had to go back to o remind them that according to what is in my receipt I ordered a latte. The quality of the food and the way it looked was like a $0.99 breakfast you can get in some places. Only we paid 30x that. In fact, I'm sure that other than the latte, they bought this stuff for that amount from a place like 711, warmed it up and served there. Avoid, avoid, avoid! I'd rather have no breakfast than have it there. The word "bakery" in the name of the place is deceptive. I'm pretty sure NOTHING is actually baked there. They serve prepacked frozen food.
There are certain foods that feel like home whenever I travel... if I can find a Corner Bakery restaurant to grab some soup or a chicken pomadoro sandwich, I'm good. The soup is rich and creamy and even after walking 2 blocks it was still steaming hot when I got back to my hotel. It's a refreshing break from eating in a hotel, and the short walk was just right...this location is busy, but they got our food out pretty quickly...There are some changes with the drinks and seating area due to covid, so you may want to take that into consideration.
The staff was so overwhelmed, impatient, and unfriendly. I paid 6.49 for a latte that was poorly made and had dairy when I asked for no dairy. The line was also super long and the wait for food was longer.
Great place for a quick bite. Everyone comes here. Always a line out the door and a pile of bikes outside. Plan on wain the morning.
I stayed for 5 days in Washington D.C. in November and I think I went to the Corner Bakery at least 5 times. I am obsessed with their overnight oats! I got both kinds, and I was so amazed with how tasty they were. I hope to come back sometime and get some more in the future. The staff were also awesome and super sweet!
I travelled to Washington DC with 28 Irish Military Veterans & 3 Civilians for 8 days and stayed close to this cafe. Having had a breakfast in our accommodation which was fairly pricy, we looked elsewhere and on a short distance away was this little gem. Our main contact was Alganesh B, a very happy cheerful person who greeted us at every visit. the food was excellent and reasonably priced. It is said, an army marches on its stomach, well Corner bakery Cafe will be marching forever.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely eat here again if ever back in DC.
Very friendly atmosphere .
Went for breakfast on a Friday morning in January. Our group ordered several different selections. Uniformly the food was terrible. Overcooked, bad tasting, poorly combined. Everything about the food was a disaster, it was really more a disappointment.
The espresso was great, and the maple pecan bar was essentially pie in the best way. We didn't have any other food or drinks. The downside to our visit was the bathrooms. They are key coded and locked unless you ask for the code. Some signage about that would have been helpful. The bathrooms were also pretty gross.
