I haven't had anything like this stateside. Filled the craving I have had from Germany doners and the shawarmas in the middle east. Definitely worth the drive into downtown after being disappointed by other so-called kebab places.
Excellent meat and falafel
Good late night food option in Dupont Circle. They have Turkish tea if you ask nicely
Doner is good just a little over average. Not as much as good to deserve double price. Comparing with the Michelin star owner Ottoman Tavern just a few block away, prices are grater almost double. Price is not reasonable. Service is good but not professional. Doner chief is nice and welcoming. I tried doner at both restaurants, I would definitely prefer ottoman tavern next time. Thank you.
We went there as a family of four leaving by changing another Mediterranean restaurant. My elder daughter and my wife insisted on eating fresh Turkish doner. The location was good. We had 2 Iskander and 1 sandwich menu. The quality of the meat should be good but as my wife said there were something missing on the taste. I guess first it was cut thick and the second it was not cooked well. The staff was very careful on customers and were sensitive not to make mistake and very hostile. For this taste I guess it is costly. Iskender was 26 and some pennies and sandwich 16 and some pennies. Total i guess we had over $110 for 3 person order. My daughter almost left all her food and my wife more than half. I believe it is mostly much better and might be just temporary attention lost of the chef since he was really were sincere before we left. And i guess I should order pure doner platter to to feel the taste better as the chef also recommended which i did not to to prevent eating so much rice. We would like to try on sometime again for a 5 star since we believe they are really good and meat is fresh since they just sell doner. Thanks for the nice staff..

The food is absolutely delicious! Well made and full of flavor! Excellent service and the vibe is on point! We will be back! Loved it!
I have waited 20 years to find a proper Doner Kebab here in the US. I cannot count the number of times I have been disappointed by so-called "gyros" or "doner kebab" here in CONUS, only to find out it is the same old Kronos brand processed meat that everywhere else sells. That was not the case at Capitol Doner! THIS IS LEGIT DONER KEBAB! I could not have been happier with the food or service. I ordered 9 sandwiches to feed my entire extended family, and everyone loved the food. The staff artfully prepared each sandwich to perfection. The only downside to Capitol Doner is that it is hundreds of miles from my home and requires driving into Washington, DC to get it. I would recommend this place to anyone that has ever eaten a real doner kebab in Europe and longs for real cuts of lamb and beef cooked to perfection on a vertical rotisserie.
I spent three years living in Germany and this is the first time I feel like I'm having real Doner in the states. This place is amazing, the sandwich is huge, and the people are great. I've been eating here nearly once a week and couldn't recommend it more!
This place transported me back to Turkey (where I lived/worked for 6 months). The doner wrap was one of the best I have ever had (even in Turkey). Make sure to get the orange sauce with it (it is mild/spicy/sweet and a perfect complement for the wrap). They also have AYRAN (a traditional sour yogurt drink that is very hard to find outside Turkey)! FYI Ayran definitely requires an acquired taste, but once it gets you, you are hooked. Finally, the BAKLAVA! When I took my first bite, I said to myself, wow this is the best Baklava I've had since Gaziantep (the world capital of Baklava). When I asked the server where they get their Baklava, lo and behold, they ship it from Gaziantep! No wonder! If you want the best Baklava in the world, here is where you can try it.The only very slight drawback is the prices seem a bit high ($16.99 for a wrap). But it is so good that I would 100% pay for it again and again. This place is a gem for authentic, fast casual Turkish food. Go here. Now!
