Was looking for a Mediterranean place I came across them & I have to say they have delicious lamb gyros. I highly recommend them. Got my daughter a Turkey & cheese on Kaiser roll very flavorful. I definitely will be back to try more on their menu. ???
Really good food, but twice now I've driven all the way over there (or taken the long metro ride) for lunch only to find them closed when they were supposed to be open. Are they only open for dinner now??
This is a little hole in the wall about a ten minute walk north of the zoo. The menu is pretty typical Greek and Middle Eastern. But the quality is great and the people are really nice. In fact, this was probably the best falafel I've had in years. They serve it as a platter or on pita as a sandwich. Everything on the sandwich was delicious. It was not as cheap as it used to be. But it was still a good deal. I'll be back.
Byblos is delicious and worth the ride from Maryland into DC. Try their chicken shwarma as it is juicy with authentic sauces. I wish we had the Mediterranean weather here year-round to enjoy this place more often as the outside seating is lovely.
As I handed over the $100 bill to the man over the counter after being handed over the sandwich, he looked at it disdainfully, looked at it against light and asked me, "Printed in India" ? I have to admit, not having gone through Middle School and High School in the US, I am perennially ill-prepared to deal with such verbal blows. And of course, my subcontinental identity is written all over me and the way I speak. So it was bull's eye for the man ! However, I mustered the courage and said, "No". He was not to be taken down. He tried next, "Printed in China?" By that time, I had collected all my grit from suffering twenty years of on and off racial abuse in the US and responded, "What makes you think it is printed in China?" He was probably not used to a response hurled back at him from brown people. Taken slightly aback, he asked " Do you want to hear a joke ?" And then proceeded to share some joke about how in Armenia (or wherever ) they had mass printed counterfeit bills. From the reviews that I see here, it seems that he is selective in choosing his target. Good for him and his business.Sandwich was good, 4 stars; sadly I can take away only 3 for the racism.
This place is the best! If you want a REAL GYRO this will satisfy your taste buds. I received a special order from here. GYRO meat with grilled onions & peppers. When I say it was fantastic there is no other reason to anywhere else.
You know that hole in the wall that does not look much but the food is superb? Well this is that place. Flavors are amazing! If they have chicken soup as the soup of the day then make sure to try it. It is like your grandma’s food! Loved everything we had there.
I used Marc's catering for a small birthday gathering of about 20 people. The food was really top notch and he plated it beautifully. I also appreciated that he let me borrow his trays so there was no waste, and he helped me get all of the trays into my car. This is really quality Mediterranean food for a great price. Byblos Deli is definitely my new go-to spot for a falafel sandwich.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARKO ...BYBLOS THE BEST DELI FOOD IN WASHINGTON DC..
One of the best eats in the city from burgers to gyros! Marco (the owner) is also a national treasure (just not our nation)! Be sure to check them out.
