I absolutely adore this place. Great sandwiches. The half size plus chips is definitely enough! Full size is enough for 2 people. I usually get the Italian, and although the butter on it is probably controversial, I really REALLY like it. I also love their cheese steak and I've had the eggplant Parm as well and it's quite good. They prefer cash so bring it if you can, but they will accept credit card as well.
More than just a sandwich shop, this place is a top notch DC favorite diner even with Philly Cheese Steaks on the menu. I was delighted with the fresh ingredients, real flavors and generous portions to say that this is a real gem. If you have to wait, it's because everyone else wants some too. Bonus tip: closed on Monday BUT open on Saturdays! If you are downtown, then get some of the goodness.
One of the worst customer service places in the country. Staff is openly hostile. First experience in 2018 was a driver with their logo on their car crossing a red light and almost hitting pedestrians and then flicking everyone off. Today was I’m guessing the grandma yelling “f you” to me when I let my umbrella get their carpet wet. I’ve actually had their food once and it’s some of the most overpriced garbage that only DC would be able to sustain. They don’t put themselves in a neighborhood part of town because locals would eat them alive. They feast off of tourists and old diners drive in and dives promotions. Additionally their online business practices are outlandish - they first off charge in store prices of over $20 for a sandwich, but the markup they allow for their delivery partners or pickup partners are over 100%. They have control over that but don’t care. They may have some tasty sandwiches in comparison to what is in the area (frankly I think they’re too dry) - but it’s not worth the patronage. Hoping they close and are replaced by business people who care about their local community, not try to exploit it. Get ready for the crybaby owner response below. Also check out their health code violations online. Gross
The customer service isn't the greatest plus the cooks don't wear gloves anymore. The shrimp Po Boy is gone! They always ask for cash. This place makes you feel like you are in the 1950's. There is more to a business than just a good product. It would help if they focused more on the total customer experience. Did I mention gloves?
Was very excited to try this place especially since it has great reviews and was featured on Diners, Drive-Thru, and Dives w/Guy Fieri. The portions are good but that seems to be the star of the show. I had a chicken cutlet sandwich which comes with bacon. The bacon was so thin I thought they forgot it. Until a piece fell out. Bacon usually elevates food, not hide within. It had no taste. I also ordered a steak and cheese which I had the toppings dialed down so I see what the sandwich had to offer taste wise. Glad I did because all I tasted was meat and cheese. NO SEASONING. The bread was soggy and very underwhelming. I have family from Philly and have experienced true Phillies and this shop doesn't compare. I'll continue to go to my sub shop near home in Hagerstown.
The classics are always great, comforting, filling, reliable, and so delish. What keeps me coming back is the friendly staff, hand made ingredients, and the specials!! Today - the best wonton soup I've ever had. Tomorrow - who knows where we'll go next?? ?

Rated best sandwich shop in DC, so I tried their Philadelphia cheese stake when I stayed downtown. Yes, high covid time. There was at least twice as much steak in the "half" sandwich I carried out because it's too cold in January here to sit outside and there is no indoor seating. By the time I got it to my hotel 2 blocks away, it all but fell apart it was so soggy. Quality of bread was poor; not as bad as Subway's, but close. And the cheese was not Provolone, as it should have been. Service was rude; decor is something out of Tijuana or Mumbai; they don't give you a plate & the napkins are inadequate.
According to a VM they’re closed, til whenever? No info on Google at all. Glad I didn’t waste time driving over. You want to close, fine. But put it on your website. No one cares about your voicemail it’s 2022
Awesome food, authentic Philadelphia sandwiches too!
