This is my favorite bar in DC. Very knowledgeable and friendly bartenders, and an excellent atmosphere. The cocktail menu is a guideline, don't be afraid to branch out. I recommended the Tweed Jacket, Holy Shishito, and Quack Quackerac. The food is also incredible. Highly recommend the Catalon fries. These are truly local bartenders.
We came for happy hour as it was recommended as one of the top in DC for a Sunday. We were slow and missed happy hour, but are so glad we went. We scooted from the natural history museum to here and it was well worth it. The drinks were delicious and the food fabulous. We had the Tuna tartar, steak frites and local greens. We finished with the vanilla creme brûlée with rhubarb compote. All the food was delicious. My girl friend is on a low fodmap diet and they did a great job meeting the no onion and garlic restriction. I would definitely recommend Bar Charley to anyone.
This place has one of the best happy hours in town. Wonderfully crafted cocktails for $8 and awesome small eats options (Catalan fries and tuna tartare are a must). Their burger is also really good.We’ve gone a couple times for happy hour and will be back to try dinner or brunch soon.
The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable (although the host was a weirdo). We had great drinks--Manhattan, Nt yr prblm, and a Martini. For food it was the pork belly fried rice and the branzini. Both were great. We enjoyed it very much!
Nice location. Great food. Entree portions are sized for people to get appetizers and dessert. The Hanger Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted awesome, just wish there was more sides with it. Wait staff was on top of things with drinks and water. Went on a Sunday evening and it was 25% off steak entrées. Get there early if you want the ribeye it will sell out fast. Seating was tight for our large group in the front corner booth table.
Bottomless mimosas was so fun here on a Saturday morning. Food was okay, but I did order a rather boring dish (eggs and bacon). The atmosphere is 10/10! Cozy, intimate, hip. Service was 6/10, as they kept haggling us to leave and stop drinking mimosas ?

After another reservation fell through, we came here for dinner. They found us a table on their patio which was perfectly warm even in 30 degree weather. The drinks were delicious and the food was excellent! I recommend the steak satay, sesame chimichurri was delicious. And crispy brussels sprouts are always a good idea!
I adore Bar Charley. I continue to come back here. The manager I always run into is a wonderful guy. All-night happy hour on Mondays and brunch are their strong suits. Get the truffle aioli no matter what you order and try that incredible Charley sauce on the weekend brunch burger.
This place is quite possibly one of the best surprises I've ever had in my culinary experience. The patio was as warm as anyone would need. Price is very reasonable and the food was perfect.
