Couldn't say if the food was good or it was because I waited over an hour to get it?It started with ordering through door dash and arriving around the time they said it would be ready. Then, the restaurant called and said one of the sides was out, and we needed to choose an alternate. Cool went in after waiting for the initial 45 minutes, and they said it would be another 20 minutes now. I'm confused because first only a side needed to be changed. As I continued to wait I saw other customers begin stack up waiting for their orders . Eventually, my order came up an hour and 20 minutes later. Then, they forgot one of my sides. I love supporting black owned, but we have to do better with customer service
Outstanding service always sets the best restaurants apart even those with great food, Backyard has some of the best BBQ that highlights their selection of meat, technique and quality control. Can't wait to return.
Love it! Never disappointed anytime except the one time they closed early and I didn't know lol stuffed salmon with the lamb chops best Thang smokin!!! ? all the sides are like they came out of grandma's kitchen! Yams and Mac and cheese, greens, all of it A1!! ?????

Hold up...do you want succulent, grilled, tender, no grizzle, sizzling, lamb chops? @backyardsmokespot got that!! Remember this location... 4701 Georgia Ave, N.W. Washington D.C. 20011... remember it, because YOU will be back again and, again, and, again...infinity!! Their menu items include fried fish and shrimp, Bbq ribs, slow smoked maple or jerk wings, crab stuffed salmon, pork chops, seafood Mac n Cheese (pictured and ridiculously delicious), collard greens (pictured, fresh, and delectable), garlic mashed potatoes, hush puppies, fries, and grilled asparagus. I truly wanted everything on the menu...really!! Now you will have to check on the prices in store because, I assume, the prices fluctuate. I loved the food and the smoke wings had so much flavor. Mac and Cheese and candid yams were great. That Maple sauce was to die for.
The food is amazing and taste so good, the only problem was my smoked chicken wings was over cooked. The sauce given with my food ??, I wanted to drown my chicken and ribs in it!
I'd been waiting to go here for a while, after following their page on IG. Unfortunately the pics they post do no justice. I arrived at about 7:15, they said the grill was down (which I'm sure they closed and cleaned early), since they close at 8, and all they had was ribs, chicken, and fried items. Well that's a bummer because my dad cant have fried foods, and we came for the most expensive items, the lamb, and stuffed salmon. Yet I forced myself to pick from the options available..... I decided to get the wings & ribs. The mac and cheese had no flavor, other than an obvious excessive amount of cream cheese, it was horrible; the worst I've ever tasted. The greens, were no good, & they had red peppers in them which caused a peppery taste. Ribs were dried out, the wings were decent, but also dry. I'd preferred they just asked me to come back tomorrow morning if the quality was going to be poor close to closing. This was a waste of my money this day, but I love and support black owned, so I will go back earlier in the day to try again, and hopefully that changes the quality. I'll update you
1st time trying this spot i told him over the phone it was my 1st time & I’ve been wanting salmon lately. He recommended me to the jerk salmon ( i like spicy). He offered me asparagus to go with it but i went with the mac&cheese and garlic mash potatoes! OH MY GOSH!! it’s as good! As it looks! Well portion! Stuff salmon with real crab lump meat well seasoned! I posted this picture on my IG you should definitely have so new customers! And I’m one of them :)
The Lunch Special I just devoured a moment ago: Fried Whiting, & Fried Shrimp, with hush puppies were excellent!: Taste of both was obviously fresh, fish was flaky as well, neither fried "hard" which is significant - no need to add seasoning other than the hot sauce, & tartar sauce included in ample portions (some don't provide same). Fried but not heavily coated. They put inside a quality fold over "box", with paper = indicative of this place knows quantity, quality extending to the carry out container!!
