Thai food, similar to when it was Baan Thai on 14th St.
I have not only travelled to Thailand, but studied Thai cuisine and also attended cooking classes. This place is the REAL DEAL!!!! Not your run of the mill pad thai place. More northern cuisine if you are familiar with it, think Chang Mai. Everything is out of this world, great bar and drinks, friendly and warm staff that attends to your every need.
The reviews did not lie. This restaurant is the best Thai food I've had in the US to date! And i've been to a couple between Houston and DFW. Thai restaurants can be hit or miss and tend to make their dishes on the sweeter sides. Ordered the frozen lychee, coconut milk griddle, Thai vermicilli with chili peanut sauce, and chicken skewers. ALL of them were good!!! The coconut milk griddle (kanom krok) were like what I had in Bangkok. 5/5 for service and food.
What's good? The shrimp chili paste fried rice with crispy pork was perfect; I could have it every day. The Tom Yum fried rice with shrimp was a delicious combination of spicy and flavor. The "Khao soi" with chicken was an amazing surprise. The service was excellent. This is not your typical Thai restaurant where you order Pad Thai and angry noodles. We loved it and cannot wait to go back.
Truly becoming one of my favorite neighborhood Thai spots! The food is absolutely delicious but don’t come expecting pad thai and pad see ew. You’ll be treated to tom yum fried rice and khao soi and many other authentic thai dishes! The service is also excellent and always takes good care of us :)
Dined at Baan Siam on a busy Friday with reservations. The tables are quite close together so we opted to sit at the bar so my girlfriend and I could have a more intimate conversation. We started with the fried lotus salad which had had tasty flavors. Off to a good start. I got the Thai chicken. vermicelli and she the chicken in a steamed banana leaf for entrees. Each dish packed a punch of spice, but the other flavors got lost in the intense spice. My vermicelli was served with an egg that was beyond hard boiled. It was impossible to mix the egg into the overall vermicelli/chicken portion. We ended with the coconut ice cream that was very welcomed to cool down the all the spiciness we just consumed.Aside from some lack luster entrees, I think our biggest qualm was that they did not offer chop sticks to eat with. It was a weird feeling to be eating vermicelli noodles with a fork. It felt like I was eating spaghetti in a bolognese sauce. It just took away from the experience a little bit without the option of getting chopsticks.
We stopped in for lunch on a recent trip to DC and we were blown away. I had the Tom Yum Shrimp and my companion had the Floating Market Noodle Soup. First the Tom Yum; it was the best fried rice I've ever eaten, and having traveled to Thailand, I no stranger to Thai food. Next, the Floating Market Soup: the broth is so amazing, it could/should be bottled and sold to guests. Do yourself a favor and dine at Baan Siam!
Amazing staff, modern upscale decor, and great ambiance. The satay was fantastic. For Thai food however the heat level left something to be desired, even when ordered at the hottest level. Flavour in everything was great.
The Khao soy was tasty.
this restaurant captures flavors that represent the depth of Thai and Asian cuisine. delicious! everything was so balanced and unique.
