One of the best spots for Ghanaian food in DC. The atmosphere is nice and the service is wonderful. The food is flavorful and fresh.
If you ever find yourself in DC please make it your duty to run not walk to this restaurant. While it is not big, it is very welcoming and they make you feel like you are at home. The waitress I had was super sweet and she gave the best recommendations. I even had to make an order to go. Be sure to try the sampler plate because it allows you to pick several things to try before committing to a bigger entree. And the peanut butter soup with pounded yams is literally the best thing on this planet! Make sure you walk through the door with a open mind and open palette I promise they will not steer you wrong.
This restaurant is located in a great area, but very discreet. The ambiance is cultural and exciting. The obsequious young woman that attended to me was polite and patient. The was knowledgeable about the menus, and answered every question I had about the menu with efficacy. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone, and intend to return very soon.
If you're looking for delicious African cuisine in the DC area, you must try Appioo! My tiny group were overly impressed with how delicious our food was! The signature cocktails were delicious. The staff was very friendly as well. We will be going back frequently, we have to try the entire menu.
I usually order by phone. Sometimes the person who takes my order is not very polite. One time, I placed an order and paid for it and when I went to pick it up, the order had never been sent to the kitchen. The food is pretty good but the service often leaves a lot to be desired.
Unfortunately my daughter and I waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes only for 1 order to come out and be told that the other wasn't put in. We left the restaurant so disappointed. However we won't the only ones upset. The entire restaurant was on a 2 hour wait. They only catered to the online order.
I waited for 1 hour 15 mins for a Togo order that was suppose to take 30 mins. There were police out side and no parking. Just a complete pain in the back side to get your order. They won't come outside to the car so you eventually have to go in to grab you food. Not worth your patronage
It took almost 40 minutes for them to take my order. I am still waiting for our food and my kid who was so excited to come here, is very disappointed and beyond hungry. It's been 1.5 hours of waiting and I still haven't gotten our food.Update: at home I warmed up the meals and the food was very, very good.I'm now updating my review to give them 4 stars. Just for the food.Please do better with our time.
The worst dine in experience since I moved to DC. Was very excited to have an authentic African restaurant experience and was extremely disappointed. The wait time was over 3 HOURS with very minimal attention being given to our table despite it being a slow night. Our server was very sweet, but inattentive to our party as she kept making mistakes and forgetting about our request. The food was extremely salty with little to no spices giving us a very bland aftertaste. The meat were very tough in texture and the fufu was alright but certainlynot up to par for the price. The decor and interior were very nice, but did not make up for the lack of flavor or service we received. Overall, highly disappointed and left there feeling hungry and miserable.
