One of the best Jamaican cafes ever to eat from. Lady Andrene herself serves customers mostly late afternoon times, but the cashier server during the day is an excellent worker herself. Very prompt, knows the whole menu like she's the owner herself! Kind and nice, both of them, and they make the best jerk chicken platter in DC hands down. My personal favorite is the small dark meat Jerk Chicken platter with rice and peas and cabbage! My coworkers also come here too and i introduced some of my friends to them too. I also highly suggest their carrot cake and red velvet cake! Always a pleasure to eat from Andrene's ?

I miss the place that used to be on the corner of Georgia Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue across from Petworth metro station. Now that was the best Jamaican restaurant I’d ever eaten out of. I just can’t remember the the name. They kept burning the place up making that delicious jerk chicken! EVERYTHING was delicious. The Ackee, Calaloo, plantains. Curry chicken, oxtails were amazing. Rice was always on point

Edit: The owner reply does not even constitute a reply. I am not a repeat customer, as that was my first and last time there. This area needs good and authentic Soul nor Jamaican food; ive yet to encounter a single one where atleast 10 percent of what i ordered was edible. I also changed the rating based on that reply.I have a slight idea why some of these reviews are stating the food is good....however, maybe today wasn't a good day. There is no way that the owner nor cook would eat this at home or bring this to a gathering/function. You all would get made fun of badlyI always give a restaurant more props for the food, because maybe it was a bad day...but seriously this was awful....I mean really awful. The only reason for the 2 stars is because the customer service was great. We ordered the Mac and Cheese, Potato Salad, and ribs. Ribs had sauce caked on. That's a result of the sauce either being too thick, and/or the sauce being left on the meat for too long, but most likely the former. The Mac and Cheese had absolutely no flavor. If there was a negative flavor that would be it, and I've had some horrible Mac and cheese before but never like this. The potato salad was mostly watery mayonnaise and some scattered potatoes, also flavorless. The best part of the order were the bottled beverages

The owner spoke to me in an extremely condescending and AGGRESSIVE manner when I came into her establishment to return a rib dinner that I had purchased ( the ribs were dried completely out smothered in old sauce ?) she angrily shouted at me in front of customers while thrusting my refund, minus the taxes I paid, into my hand. I won’t EVA grace that place w/my presence!! Shameful and poor behavior from a business woman .

Got the jerk chicken which was quite tasty. Generous portion for $14.95 (which is the “small” portion). Owner is very friendly.

If you find yourself in a 2 miles radius of 3rd and Kenndy first thing in the morning. You’ll no doubt wonder “Who’s Auntie is cooking like that!!” Go ahead and slide by Andrenne’s. I’ve enjoyed everything on the menu. Special note: when she tells you she has a 1/4 and not a 1/2 of the AMAZING ribs. That’s absolute grace!! So we can all get some…I’ve had to come back the next day. When you want her ribs; that’s all you want!!

The food is excellent, even better is the customer service. A bit pricey but competitive. Thanks again for the wonderful Curry chicken.

This place is a must! The food is so amazing. Their chicken is so juicy and tender and their Mac is creamy and savory. If you’re looking for great food with amazing service, this is the place for you.

I always think of Andrene's when I want Jamaican food. There's not one thing that brings me back, but the overall experience for me. Service is fast. The ladies behind the counter are always nice to me, although if you start talking crazy to them, they are not the ones to play with? The goat, chicken and oxtail are very good to me (but I'm not Jamaican and don't like pepper sauce so there is some context for you☺). I like the crispness of their cabbage. The plantains are soft and fairly sweet, not too much. The rice is made well. The jerk has kick but not not "hot for no reason." The desserts are moist, not dry. The inside of the café is nice, quaint, and clean. The bathrooms are clean. It has the feel of a nice neighborhood institution that is valued by its regulars. Andreea values her customers who value her establishment. She is a part 9f the Brightwood community and a star in the Kennedy Street NW galaxy. That's what you want from a place like Andrene's. All that is what keeps me coming back.

Ok so i finally visited Andrea’s after several recommendations from friends nd to be honest with you I wasn’t so pleased.. It’s not nasty but I’ve had better ..but it’s overpriced.. I drove 35 minutes to this place not that it matters but I was expecting more food for $16 box nd some change..
