British Fish & Chips

We love trying a variety of food and restaurants when we go to food halls and this was one of our picks when we were at Union Market. My husband and I only got a sausage roll since we were trying other places too. I've actually never had one before, but I enjoyed this one.I'd happily come back and try more of the menu.

Seriously, the best Fish and Chips and Shepard’s Pie in DC probably. The fish that you get is gigantic! Plus the tarter sauce is on point with the fries. Also, you get a little cup of mushy peas on the side.Everything was perfectly seasoned, and me and my friend have never said with literally every bite that this is the best possible food that we could have gotten at Union Market. Also get the house-made cocktail called Pim’s Cup, it is seriously a really good pallet cleanser and will just wake you up with amazing flavor. All around, will defiantly take all my friends back for food!

Please excuse my photography skills - this food was AMAZING. I couldn’t wait to take a bite before taking the picture haha. Chef Nick was extremely warm and friendly, and his food was delicious. It was just what I needed after a long, cold day. I loved the fresh chips and sausage rolls.

Fantastic Fish and Chips - the curry mayo is beyond delicious. Also don't miss out on authentic sausage rolls and the Chicken and Leek pie is a treasure! If you miss UK cuisine this place has you covered!

Fantastic food and really friendly owner. I definitely plan to return. When I picked up my food, I was chatting with the owner a bit and mentioned I couldn't find anywhere in the area that sold clotted cream. He mentioned he would plan to get it in in the future. I really appreciated that he was so accommodating and takes feedback from his customers seriously. The food was really delicious as well.

I travel to the UK a lot for work and vacation. Aboveground has honestly some of the finest fish and chips I have ever had. The breading on the fish is truly flavorful and the chips are always cooked perfectly. Do yourself a favor and get a side of curry ketchup! The flaky pastry is amazing on the sausage rolls too. If you like truly proper pub food (I think they serve beer now) or want to try a quite excellent take on British food, get yourself over to Aboveground. Nick is doing some really good work here.

I could eat here every day of the week. This is my go-to for comfort food. I need to try more items on the menu but can 100% vouch for the Shepard’s Pie, sausage roll, Fish and Chips. Don’t miss the Pimm’s Cup in a can!

Wow... this place is amazing!!Chef Nick and his team are raising the bar with AboveGround. In my opinion, there isn't a food stand in Union Market that has more energy and variety of options than AboveGround!!! The food is dialed in and so so yummy. The Pub Shop is of a kind with a rotating menu of authentic British items.Support local small business and go check this place out

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. The sausage rolls are the best I’ve had in the US, the chips taste straight out of a proper English shop, and Nick has created an awesome menu full of great tasting items. It’s worth the trip every time.

One of the best fish & chips in the city. Make sure you check them out.
