Believe it or not I was a West Haven resident for 13yrs & this was my first time here and it was a decent place. I've seen alot of mixed reviews, but imo the food was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant. The store was clean and the staff was very friendly. A lil shout out to Patty, our waitress who went above & beyond to make us feel welcome even tho we were the last customers of the night! (She has been there since the 80's, she said ?) kids had hotdog, cheeseburger & softshell crab respectively. Hub had a salad cuz he cheated and had chinese before we got there lol. I had a combo meal with baked potato & beets (I knowwwww but I love them!???)
I was truly disappointed in the seafood combo with the fish, shrimp, scallops, calamari and fries. The batter on the shrimp was so thick and the shrimp taste like it was old and overcooked. The fish had ZERO flavor. The fries tasted awful it really needed salt or something. Lastly the cocktail sauce tasted like WATERED DOWN TOMATO SAUCE! The scallops and calamari were the only decent things. I usually don't complain about food but this was bad. If it wasn't raining so hard I would've drove back and asked for refund or something. I paid way too much for awful food.
Ordered 1/4 chicken dinner dark ... the smallest leg I've ever seen ..it was ok as far as chicken goes ... the bbq sauce was delicious, had a nice kick to it, wish I had something good to put it on ...salad was nothing special mostly iceberg snd 1 piece of tomato with one slice of cucumber & little pre-made packet of dressing. There's no real butter for the Texas toast just some imitation spread. Collards were good but you can't get satisfied on collards Altogether a big disappointment My friend had half chicken which was two breasts but it was so dry she wouldn't eat it and totally disappointed with no butter for the baked potato Will someone point us to a really good BBQ place
I don't know if I had a new waitress or not but she couldn't remember anything. My food came after my family was almost done eating. The soda's we're flat. The lemonade was terrible. The food I tried off of everyone else's plate was bland.
I love this place so much. The food, the interior, the beach, everything is great. The food is so good, and with it being a tiny bit expensive, it's worth it
Seems like this is one of the last seafood places standing in this area. At first, was a bit skeptical about the one waitress working, but she was cool. They won’t do substitutions, like onion rings for fries, even if you’re willing to pay extra. The fried fish was fish nuggets and not tasty. Will never order that again. And they aren’t cheap, but everything else tasted good. Food came out quick. What I really appreciated was the leftovers tasted great the next day.
Haven't been there in a while. Will go back soon. The clam strips were well seasoned and without grit. Yea!!!Waitress was very nice and helpful. Good time.
The best food I've had in a long time! Lightly battered so you can enjoy the taste of seafood ?. Very clean and great service. We will be back!
Dinner was good and customer service as well? We all had seafood platters and the pickled beets was a different but nice treat. My 93 grandmother enjoyed her day out and meal.
Have been going to Turk's for nearly 2 decades, nearly every Saturday or Sunday, specifically for fried clams. The re-do is lovely. However, since return from the Covid time frame, on at least 4 of last 5 visits, clam strips are really not up to par. They are tough, chewy and over cooked. Batter is different as well. Have not been back since early summer and not planning to any time soon. Waitress Vivian has always been very pleasant and a great server. Miss her!
